Way overpriced brunch, dried out hunk of beef, only other meat was sausages, 3 sad looking salads, no scrambled eggs, gross looking butter chicken and plain rice, limited dessert and fruit. Very disappointed. 2 people ate $5 worth of food for $100. Please do better Anchor and Ore. Your chairs are worn out and I felt like my bum would be on the floor.
Out of all the trips we have been on and the restaurants we have ate at this was the worst service and worst food ever. We even talked to the manager on duty and she didn't care.
We enjoyed a scrumptious two course dinner as we watched the sun set over the harbour through ceiling-to-floor windows. Julia, our server, was delightful, the meals were delicious and the ambience was great. Ample parking just outside was convenient @ $1.50 per half hour, which was fine. We will not hesitate to recommend Anchor & Ore to our friends in T'Bay and look forward to dining here next time we are in Canada.
We had a disappointing experience for my friend's birthday brunch today. We made a reservation for 7 of us at 11:00 am. The table had no beverage menus, and when we asked for one it took about 15 minutes to receive it. The waitress then informed us that we couldn't order a Caesar, we could only have wine or beer. We noticed that they did have a bartender on staff, although she appeared to be casually chatting with a patron for quite a long time instead of working. The only thing we were offered was coffee, with no cream, milk or sugar provided. I had to stir mine with my fork as there were no spoons either. We had to ask several times for proper service. We were all very disappointed by this point so we decided to transition to the restaurant next door for our meal. At that point, we noticed the server speaking with the bartender who then told us that we would be permitted to order cocktails. By that point it was too late. Prices have gone up significantly to $44/plate for the buffet, and service should be excellent quality at this level. I have given this restaurant multiple chances and have continuously been underwhelmed at the quality of the experience. I would not recommend nor dine here in the future unless management intervenes.
Food was great Service not so much. Had to ask for more water, plates for our apps, no desert/coffee/extra drinks asked. Dirty plates left on table for the 40 mins we sat after dinner socializing View great.
One of my favorite restaurants in North America. The food did take awhile 35-ish minutes, to arrive at the table, for our group of 6, which was much longer than previous visits, however, it was a Friday night before a long weekend and quite busy as a result, so somewhat understandable. As a result I did take one star away from "service", however, I do want to stress that our server herself was very kind, helpful, and accommodating, and definitely deserving of 5 stars.
The view is excellent and service was good but unfortunately the food needs improvement. Fish tacos which I've had in the past were not the same . Very saucy , messy and not enjoyed . Nachos and wings were very disappointing. I would return for the view and maybe a cocktail, not the food .
Beautiful restaurant, great view, amazing food, but terrible service. Getting there was a little tricky with parking not easily available and finding the entrance in the hotel. Had the charcuterie board to start, and the salmon dish for the main. Charcuterie was good, the honey was the standout, so delicious. Salmon was also brilliant, portions of sides were huge, very fairly priced at $37. The service though, was among the poorest I've ever experienced. Our server, Robin (robyn?) was unbelievably inattentive. A highlight was waiting 35 minutes after ordering dessert, having to ask the bartender to check where our server was, only for her to come running over with the desserts 5 minutes later apologizing. She clearly forgot about us, which was what she did the whole night anyways. Overall a brilliant restaurant offering good prices, food, beautiful views, but bogged down by subpar service.
Wonderful evening! Only real disappointment was having to pay $8!! for 2 hours parking. The food was very good, the waitstaff friendly, the music was wonderful (the main reason we went) The songstress even dedicated a piece to me for my Birthday celebration. My friend from Kamloops BC wanted to visit the Anchor & Ore as we had done last year (same occasion). At times the other conversations tended to bounce off the ceiling which appears to be metal! Very pleased with the evening.
Our server was wonderful, however, the kitchen was very slow. Once we got our meal, though, it was amazing. Very tasty. I had the special which was slow roasted prime rib, thinly sliced on a bun with onion and cheese. Melt in your mouth deliciousness!

Would not recommend for a special occasion. No special service, no complementary dessert. They have eliminated their brisket platter, which was such a great item. They also have very limited vegan options other than a salad. We've been there dozens of times but service and menu quality had declined significantly. I would reconsider attending again anytime soon.
The service was very good and the view was beautiful. The fact that you have to pay for parking is a definite deterant and the drinks are very expensive. Only 4 drinks was over half our bill. I dont eat out often so this might be the norm but seems a bit extreme. The food was very good and the portion sizes were great but the menu selection is fairly limited.
Our waitress was excellent. The wait for dinner seems longer than expected. The Putanesca shrimp linguini was good. I prolly wouldn't go back opting to try somewhere else. We were visiting, didn't realize it was attached to the Marriott.
First time for Sunday brunch at Anchor & Ore. Loved it. You just can't beat the sight of beautiful Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant through the walls of windows. So pretty! Husband and me, our daughter and her friend all had brunch, and all four of us were really happy with the food. Lots of variety, including charcuterie, pastries, delicious cold salads, shrimp & salmon, all the usual breakfast options, including bacon & sausages, buttermilk pancakes with multiple toppings, eggs benedict, breakfast potatoes, and several hot savoury dishes: vegetables stewed in coconut milk (yummy), mushroom gnocchi, roast pork, mussels, a lovely fresh fruit platter with several different mousses (chocolate with fresh mint leaves was delicious), and more! Good coffee and good service. It wasn't busy when we first arrived so we were able to linger and visit without any rush - such a treat! By the time we left, the place had filled up. We'll definitely return.
We dined there on the 26th. Our Caesar salad was excellent, I had the linguini which was horribly over-salted; the olives were almost impossible to stomach. Service was “ok”. It would have been better with fresh tomatoes, a bit of a cream sauce and less salt! My husband had the ribeye which was “ok”. Somewhat over priced.
