tacos were great- they put a lot of meat and toppings wings - were meh, got the pineapple habanero and it was too soggy, couldnt finish it

I didn’t expect to be discriminated against at a “Mexican” bar for being Mexican. The manager’s service on October 3rd, 2025, was horrible — rude, pretentious, and arrogant. He demanded our passports and refused to accept any other form of identification, even arguing with my friend about our rights and about laws that only seemed to exist in his head. He completely ruined my birthday by treating us as clueless foreigners, lacking any intelligence or understanding of the law.

The 2 stars are based on the food as always order chips with pico and the pico had no flavor. The oder was birria tacos so small and over cooked. No flavor for the taco or birria soup the barbacoa tacos as well red sauce with no flavor. I was disappointed with the food based on the price

Our overall experience was really good here. We are vegetarians and they have small but tasty vegetarian food options on their menu. Our server was very friendly and made sure we get the best service and chatted with us too for a while and guided us about the surroundings.

I don’t go out often, but my sister and I were going to the paranormal critique show and wanted to have some eats prior to. My niece has said wonderful things about this establishment so we went! Service was sub par, food was meh! We asked a question as our waitress was walking by as we ordered the wrong item and in that moment I was stunned… she placed half eaten food from another customer on our table beside our food to point out what we actually wanted! I was totally taken aback.
Food is below average overall. The Nachos were dry and bland ( yes that is correct) . The Tacos were average at best. The Restaurant is in Downtown with decent service. I recommend searching around for other places . Please research Thunder Bay before u visit. It is not all good news.

As a family driving through, we chose this restaurant for Mexican. As a Chef, I 'll offer some advice. You might try not to cover the chips in wet ingredients rendering the chips soggy. I'm sure the menu said served with crema and salsa but didn't expect it drizzled over my entire plate. Judging by the number count, folks enjoy your establishment. I was disappointed in my food.

In the way of food save yourself the disappointment and take the 20sec walk to the good mexica restaurant just up the road. The pico was bland, the corn salad tasted like it came out of a can, the meals were bland and one note. It made me sad eating here.

Norteños Cantina is a pleasant and welcoming spot located right in downtown. It’s a great place to unwind with friends, and the pool tables add a fun touch—just remember to bring some $1 coins! The surrounding area has been nicely updated, with benches and walkable spaces that make the whole experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood.
