I have been going weekly to the Red River location for a couple years. I have really noticed that the staff have always been beyond friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Big thumbs up to the staff (over many years now), and we love all their in-house made items.

We were passing through Thunder Bay and asked where to find the Persian donuts that Thunder Bay is famous for. The motel clerk directed us to Nucci's. At Nucci's, the Persian donuts are baked daily by The Persian Man and delivered to Nucci's. Nucci's had 3 flavours of frosting available: the original raspberry, chocolate, and blueberry. The cashier recommended we get a dozen packaged in plastic, with the tub of frosting provided separately, as those would best withstand the rigours of travel. Back in our hotel room, we sampled the donuts. Delicious! The pastry is the typical yeast raised donut, and the frosting is light and not too sweet, with a delicate raspberry flavour.There were other pastries and savouries available, but we had eyes only for the Persian donuts.Service was really friendly and helpful.

I tried the blueberry, and the chocolate persians for the 1st time and they were pretty good.They are not the best persians I have ever had, as the originals were the best and were made at the Shaw Baking Company on Algoma Street.My sister used to put the icing on the persians and it was a pretty big deal as the frosting recipe was always kept secret, and the persians needed to be prepped in a special way.I gave Nucci's a 4 star, as they come pretty close.
Ordered 100 pastries for my late husband a month before his celebration of life. It was his favourite pastries for our guests. Our son picked up on that day. He was told by a manager that I had not given enough notice for the order. It’s not enough that my son picked up his dads favourite pastry for our guests. But for him to be humiliated in front of other patrons in the store is Unacceptable. And treated like it was a new order. He was there on time, with a receipt dated 4 weeks prior.Hurtful.
