Prospector Steak House

Had dinner here, 2 drinks and steak with side of mashed potatoes both for myself and my wife. Total came to $228. The waiter for whatever reason charged and extra 4$ on top of our $45 steak for a total of 98$ which would make sense if we had ordered the loaded baked potato which was not the case, so we paid an extra $8 for nothing. The steak was terrible, not only was the steak tough (poorly cooked) but was also a lower quality of meat. I've mastered cooking a steak for myself so I never have high expectations when I got to a restaurant, but this steak was shoe leather. My wife even said she never had to chew a steak so much in her life. At best this was a AA grocery store cut sirloin either poorly cooked or a choice cut steak cooked as best as someone could do with that piece of meat. The bacon wrapped scallops were alright, but I'm honestly not sure how anyone could mess that up. The drinks we ordered were a mere 4/10. Would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are looking to have a bad steak and have imaginary charges added to your bill. Also the % tip was calculated including the tax which is a pretty weird thing to do, should only be tipping on the food not the tax (4$ extra).

Prime rib was extremely over cooked , Yorkshire puddings were dry the potato was dry and mealy . Service was slow and meals were of poor quantity. Disappointing as last Christmas we had amazing service and food from the same location.

Waited 2+ hours. Food cold when it came. Birthday party. The person who we had the party for had to leave because food didn’t arrive for over 2 hrs.

I normally dont leave reviews. Unfortunately, with 2 ignored phone calls and a waitress that didn't want to hear about my experience and pawn me off to the manager to only put me on hold until I was ready to hang up. I decided to leave this review. I ordered 3 meals for pick up. 2 Novemburgers and 1 kids meal for over $77 (including a small tip) which I thought was hefty at first. I had the order arranged for a 6pm pick up only to wait at the bar for 20 minutes. I even noticed a light restaurant with people that didn't have food or drinks infront of them for quite some time... I felt awkward and felt other people were as well. Only to get the meal and see that we were cheated on the fries quite a bit. The food was just okay but it definitely was not worth the bad experience. Again, all it took was for someone to hear me out on the feedback on the phone. But I feel this bad review was truly earned and should be here for viewing.

Waitress gave us attitude. Definitely not welcoming. Don't get me wrong, I love the prospector and its food, the only reason why we come is because the food is great. I would recommend dining on the dining side and not the bar side. The bar side isn't priority. This place would of gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the Waitress. Dark hair with tattoos on her right tricep. Bad for buisness.

Was there with family on Friday Oct 24th, there were 4 of us there. Had a 20 min wait for a reservation that we had booked for 6pm and were were there at 6pm. The waitress was not attentive to the table at all, though it was a Friday there were several empty tables. After mixing up the drink orders of two of us there and ignoring several questions we asked about the menu we finally received our food, the way the steaks were cooked has been confused for 2 of us which normally isn’t a big deal as we simply swapped however the waitress completely forgot the additional side that had been ordered and once she was reminded brought it out and it was both cold and soggy. Finally one of the other people there requested a second glass of wine that was simply never brought even though she heard and acknowledged it. When it came time to pay we left a 10% tip (still 30$ on our 300$ dinner) which seemed appropriate based on the service provided that night, the waitress tried to correct me on the tip option as I paid and then stormed off without a word was I was finished with the machine. Incredibly disappointed by the service lately, especially that night. Prospector hasn’t had the same quality or care lately.

Over 1.5 hours to get 2 entrees, cold prime rib, terrible service and messed up entree. Not the place it once was, will not be returning. There are far, far better options for the price.

Been here a few times already and the price isn't as bad as I was expected with this crazy beef world.
Food is still amazing always love stopping in woth my co workers when we are in town

Had dinner at Prospector my for my birthday. The food was delicious and the portions were big. Sage was our server and she was amazing, very friendly! Thank you for a great meal and great service.

One of our oldest, best establishments in Thunder Bay. The Prospector ceaser salad is incredible, the buns are delicious, amazing cuts and steak selection. Soups etc. Its all good. Nice staff, attentive. Thank you very much. A must try for a hearty meal.
