Had the Parisian gnocchi and it was amazing. Soft and fluffy pillows of deliciousness with a slightly salty cream sauce, and a crispy crust for a bit of crunch. I thought it was pricey, but after trying it, I enjoyed every penny of it!

The food was ok.

Wheelchair accessibility: There are no washrooms on the main floor and the stairs down to the washrooms are narrow.
The upstairs washrooms require a spiral staircase and another set of steps.

Not really fair review . Never ate or had a drink there. Saw this place online and liked the reviews and photos. 6ish on a Saturday night, we endured paralyzing construction, walking by a busy pub and found the sovereign room. Did a double take. See picture. Walked in and it was somewhat deserted and dark. Did have a fairly impressive draught list. Anyhow we went up the street and had a fine time.

After seeing the SOV on You Gotta Eat Here I had to eat there and it did not disappoint. I had a chorizo Sando with duck poutine on the side and two beers from the Sleeping Giant Brewery. Three food was excellent, tasty and hot. The pale ale and stout (for dessert) were a great compliment. Lastly, the lady who served me was super friendly and took a moment to chat after I had paid.. Thank you.

The food is outstanding! They make everything. The Caesar salad dressing is the best I've had ... Ever. Save room for dessert because the creme brulee was worth every calorie! Service was excellent as well.

Dietary restrictions: Great place for shellfish allergy people because the fryer is safe so you can eat the fries!

Probably the best bar in TBay! A beautiful place to eat or drink during the day & the only bar that at night doesn't feel like a dive bar ???
Great service! The bartenders were attentive, even though they were crazy busy!.
In my opinion, they could use an extra hand, designated too running around, serve drinks to tables, wipe the outer edges of the bar & collecting empties.

We were in from kenora and wanted something other than out boring menus.
This place was amazing. The space is simple, but everything else in incredible. I loves the drinks, service, and food. I'm seriously considering finding reasons to come back to town just so we can work our way through the menu.

Bottom line: declining quality, not worth your money. My partner and I have been to Sovereign Room many times over the past two years. Generally we enjoy the food. The menu changes regularly and the dishes are contemporary and call on a variety of cultures for inspiration. On our most recent visit we noticed a significant drop in food quality. We split the Beef Khao Soi and Duck Gnocchi. The Khao Soi broth was bland. Mildly spicy but otherwise lacking much flavor. The beef was tender to the point of being mushy and also flavourless. The fried noodles were either straight from a bag, or somehow convinced us that they were. The duck gnocchi was especially bad - overcooked bloated mush, not resembling the authentic product in texture, which is particularly insulting in a city full of home cooked Italian food. The roux in the sauce was split and under cooked, the dominant flavor in the dish being uncooked flour. The duck, much like the beef, was a flavorless mush. I would guess this kitchen is using either a sous vide or braising their meats at length in order to avoid having to cook to order or involve any real skill in preparing their dishes. The only distinguishable flavor other than flour was stale Parmesan.Service was fine but generally lacking. We were not given a pitcher of water like the other tables around us, and when my glass was empty it was not refilled.Prices are above average for the product. They're attempting to sit at the table with Tomlin and other high end restaurants in the city but punching in a much lighter weight category.

Great Pizza, but Other Dish Fall ShortI recently visited The Sovereign Room with high hopes of indulging in some delicious pizza. While the pizza certainly lived up to my expectations, I found the other food offerings to be rather lackluster.Let's start with the star of the show – the pizza. The Sovereign Roomtruly excels in this department. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with a delightful chewiness. The sauce had a well-balanced tanginess, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Each bite was a delightful explosion of cheesy goodness. If you're a pizza lover, this place is definitely worth a visit. However, my excitement diminished when I tried some of the other dishes on the menu. The non-pizza options, such as Duck Poutine and Gravy, were quite mediocre. The flavors seemed to lack depth, and the execution fell short of my expectations. It felt as though the focus and attention to detail that went into the pizza were not replicated in the other dishes. On a positive note, the service at The Sovereign Room was friendly and attentive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant dining experience. In conclusion, if you're craving excellent pizza, The Sovereign Room is a great choice. The pizza alone makes it a worthwhile visit. However, if you're looking for a well-rounded dining experience with consistently impressive food beyond the pizza, you may want to explore other options.

You have to try the duck poutine. Place is run down/gives off dive bar vibes but the food is actually 10/10
