Cannot say enough positive things about our experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming.
Our server, Amalu, was absolutely incredible. She was the sweetest, so friendly, and genuinely made us feel special throughout the entire meal. The food was amazing, and you can really tell that quality, fresh ingredients are used in everything they prepare.
Since it was my birthday, Amalu recommended the Swedish fudge cake for dessert, and she did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will definitely continue to stay at the Valhalla whenever we visit Thunder Bay, and Skal will always be our first stop.

We came here for our second dinner visit, and believe me—it was absolutely worth our time. Ashwin guided us with such genuine care, recommending the Thunder Oak Chicken and the November Burger-10/10, and both dishes were outstanding. The Torres Cabernet Sauvignon he suggested paired perfectly, turning our meal into a little experience of its own. Our server was equally wonderful, looking after our table with such kindness and attention. It was one of those evenings where the service makes you feel truly welcomed. A memorable experience all around.

I had dinner at Skal on Friday evening and it was a wonderful experience. I was reunited with some friends I hadn’t seen in a while, and this restaurant was the perfect setting for it.
Our waitress was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was top notch, full of flavor and beautifully presented. Honestly, I was surprised the place was virtually empty because Skal deserves to be packed with how great the service and food are.
Definitely a hidden gem that I’ll be coming back to!

The breakfast was great. We had fin pancakes(highly recommend) eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast.
The server was fast and attentive. When we told her we had a flight to catch after, she brought us to-go cups so we could finish our coffees.

The staff were nice. We didn’t wait long for the food like most people say in other reviews, but it wasn’t very busy. Overall the food was ok - not outstanding but not terrible. We had the pasta, grains bowl, nachos, and potato dumplings to start. Pasta was a bit over done and the grains bowl dressing needed a bit more umami/flavour. Otherwise it seemed fresh and well plated. Convenient if staying at the hotel.
