Me + 2 guests went for breakfast here for our first time! It was close by and the interior and exterior looked great. There was a bit of a wait but no complaints for this. When inside, interior looked even better, and the customers were all dressed and fancy.

Anyways we were seated at the table in the middle of the diner, the one almost immediately to the right. 1 of my guests sat down. I pulled out the chair for my other guest and … there was an orange stain running down the middle of it, at the edge of the cushion of the chair. It was some solid food or something.

I immediately reported it to the servers at the front, who showed us to the table. They gave me this look like I placed the stain on the chair, however one of them ran over to wipe it off. Okay, no problem…

My table of 3 were standing now, waiting for the server to finish wiping the chair. So again, we went to sit down… the same chair that was just “wiped” still had the stain and the solid whatever was on it still there…

(Obviously I didn’t stare down the server as she wiped it, that would have been rude, and our group just stood and talked and waited)

The other 2 members of our group now felt embarrassed and a bit pissed by this. 1 person in our group being shy and doesn’t like speaking up for herself. She wanted to sit back down on the chair, even though it was still wet and dirty from the stain and whatever else was on there. But that wasn’t right, so I approached the servers at the front, again, and told them that the stain was still on the chair, and to politely wipe it down.

Again, they gave me a look like it was my fault... even though the servers sat us at a table with a dirty chair to begin with, which they should have inspected. Flustered, one of the servers went to wipe it down again.

We got our food, which was fine. Not excellent, but not poor quality. Just “good.” Nothing special. The atmosphere was nice.

Somewhere between finishing my plate, I went up to speak to the servers. I wanted them to know that it wasn’t personal, but sitting us at a table, with a dirty chair, wasn’t very professional. I wasn’t looking for a discount or anything. But the 2 servers at the front didn’t offer one. In fact, they didn’t apologize at all. Again, they gave me a look like I did something wrong. Meanwhile, I was calming my group down, because they suspected that the servers were picking on our group, and giving us worse service.

Overall, our bill came out to over $80. The extra bread we ordered made up most of it so don’t do that, lol. The food was good, and the environment was cozy, but I would not go there again, just based on the events with being seated at an unclean table, and the service received from the staff. It’s okay to say Sorry, especially in Canada! It’s okay to make mistakes. Gaslighting a group of customers for telling the staff that the chair is dirty, didn’t make me feel very good at all. That part is not okay.

Went for brunch on Saturday and tried the Norwegian Benedict and the 1 Kitchen omelet — everything tasted super fresh and really well made. Honestly though, the standout is the space itself. The design is beautiful and all the plants give it such a calm, cosy vibe. Great spot for a relaxed brunch.

1 Kitchen Toronto is one of the most beautiful brunch spots in the city. Located inside the 5-star 1 Hotel, the space is filled with greenery and natural light, creating a calm, refreshing atmosphere that feels like a greenhouse oasis in downtown Toronto.

The menu focuses on farm-to-table, locally sourced, and sustainable ingredients with clean, balanced flavors.

I tried The Great Canadian and Norwegian Benny — both were thoughtfully prepared and delicious, especially the Benny with smoked salmon and perfectly poached eggs.

Service is friendly and relaxed, and despite the weekend rush, wait times were reasonable. Prices are fair for the quality and experience.

Highly recommended for brunch dates, special occasions, or anyone who enjoys a stylish, nature-inspired dining environment. It’s a place that leaves you energized instead of overly full — a rare find in the city.

I am deeply disappointed by the discriminatory treatment I experienced here. Despite being a loyal local customer who spends approximately $2,000 a month and frequently brings clients, I was treated with clear preferential bias toward white patrons.

On my most recent visit, a white man and two women cut in line and were served ahead of me, a woman of colour, without any correction from staff. The environment became so hostile that I chose to leave—something that put my health at risk, as I am prediabetic and became hypoglycaemic afterward.

This is not an isolated incident. During a mixology class, a white male guest was allowed to participate without paying, while the only two brown women at the table—myself included—were required to pay. I have experienced multiple similar instances over time.

Although staff later claimed they wanted to fix the situation, the harm is significant. Given the influence I bring, the clients I host, and the business I drive to this location, I can no longer support an establishment where discriminatory behaviour is repeatedly overlooked.

Until there is meaningful accountability and corrective action, I will not be returning, nor will I bring any further business here.

I’d like to on the other hand recommend whole heartedly Queens Harbour- a better more inclusive environment with better standards and caliber worth every penny. Let’s support those who include us 💪

Although the food and drinks are incredible, this review is specifically for the team at 1kitchen. From reception, to the baristas and the waiters/waitresses. I constantly dine with my daughter and family here, maybe 2-3 times a week and the service has been so incredible on a consistent basis. It was already amazing before I became a regular but now that the team knows me and my daughter they have been incredibly accommodating us and it makes it so enjoyable to see them every time. Who ever put this team together should be extremely proud of the quality and service they offer.

Everything about dinner was absolutely perfect. Our server was outstanding. They hit everything right, there when they needed to be amazing recommendations descriptions of the food were spot on the flavors in the food were so delectable, it really was an experience to taste even what seemed like a simple sauce. The ambience of the restaurant is so serene and gorgeous with all of the plants in the woodwork. It was exactly what we needed after a day of being around a lot of people, we so thoroughly enjoyed everything, thank you so much!

Would 100% recommend 1 Kitchen. The service was exceptional; we were a large group for brunch, and the manager and server were really accommodating. The food was delicious and well presented, and the place and decoration are just beautiful (like having eternal summer inside). Overall 10 out of 10. Maybe on the higher end for price, but it was worth it.
