7 West used to be one of my go-to spots in Toronto — open late, cozy, and reliable. I’ve raved about it to friends for years. But this last visit was a complete breakdown in service and operations. We had a poor experience the last time prior to this as well, but we thought that was just a single hiccup. Anyhow, about this most recent time...
We waited 20–30 minutes *just to be told* that the waffles we ordered weren’t available — meaning no one had even started them. I was sitting there with my wife, and after that delay, it was another ~30 minutes before food came. This was the only time in my life I’ve ever had to get up and ask if our food was even being cooked.
When the food finally arrived, they’d substituted waffles for pancakes (without asking) which we only later realized was supposed to come with sausage — but didn’t include sausage. We overpaid for a substitution we didn’t even want!
Servers were switching shifts mid-meal, and no one seemed to be tracking our order. It felt like training day for everyone. Sadly, I won’t return.
For the management, in case you're wondering about the date / time it was Jun 22, 2025 at roughly 7:40AM.

Being open 24 hours a day is a big plus. Not many restaurants in Toronto seem to be open past midnight. We went there for desserts and they were delicious!
Keep in mind, they do add a mandatory 18% service fee past midnight.

We came as a group (which 18% tip was already applied to the bill). However, when getting the bills they had no idea who had what, and we ended up paying for extra 2 drinks which we didn’t get. The 18% tip for exactly this. Other than that the rest was ok.

Came here at around midnight to get a few hot drinks, amazed by the ambiance and the overall atmosphere. Amazing hot chocolates made by the barista Sany and great welcoming experience by the 2 guys at the front Jugal and Ishaan. Will come back for more for sure!

I just discovered 7 West Cafe open 24*7 in core downtown Toronto and visited on a busy Saturday night. The ambience is lovely and beautiful. Service was excellent and a coffee lover was proud to have a yumilicious coffee of my choice in the middle of the night. They also accommodated a vegan salad for me which was delicious and the rest of the menu seemed very appealing too. Thank you so much- will visit your cafe again soon!

I like this restaurant but this is the first time I had to leave a review. My friend and me were served our beers warm. The cans aren’t cold enough to begin with. On the top of it, the glasses we received were warm. The waitress was nice but I hope they know how to serve beer properly.

A 24/7 Gem with Exceptional Service. 7 West Café is a true standout in Toronto, open 24/7 and perfect for any time of day or night. I visited around 4 AM and was greeted warmly by Mariam, whose exceptional service added to the cozy and inviting atmosphere.
The coffee was rich and perfectly brewed, making it a memorable experience. Whether you’re stopping by for a late-night snack or a quiet place to work, this café delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended!

The reason it's a 1 star is because of one of your employees. The food was great, and so was the ambiance, I'll give credit where credit is due. Inconsiderate and rude is how i could describe that one staff member (dont really know his name). All we asked for was to split the bill 3 ways, and someone should've seen the way he rolled his eyes at our group. Moreover, after we all made our payments, he went to the back and said, "Of course they don't tip." and thought that we couldn't hear that. Well, of course, I wouldn't with that attitude and non-existent customer service of his. I think that specific server has to be taught basic courtesy before being placed customer facing. I don't usually say anything like this and most certainly know that people do have off days, but acting like this in front of your customers is something that's just not expected.
The place is a gem but whenever they play their loud trap playlist it just ruins the vibe completely and makes you wanna leave

I came here waited forever for the food and I was very disappointed in the food none of my friends enjoyed there meals we ended up taking 1 bite and throwing the rest away. This place used to be authentic but not anymore
