I popped by Aburi Sushi at the Waterworks for lunch and ordered the temaki and the aburi sushi set. Having eaten at several Aburi group restaurants in both Toronto and Vancouver (shout-out to Miku Vancouver and Minami Toronto in particular, they're incredible) and I found the Waterworks venue pleasant but lacking in terms of flavour and the high quality I expect from this otherwise fantastic brand. Everything came out fairly one note and all the same temperature. Next time, I'll head back to Tora if I want Aburi sushi for a quick and yummy lunch.

Very tasty sushi, very high end vibes. I liked every roll I had, especially the hakkaido scallop and the salmon roe. The one roll I didn't like was the poached lobster roll. Overall great experience and great staff.

We had the Aburi set and it was an amazing 7 piece course of sushi. Each piece was beautiful to look at and tasted as good as it looked. It was really great to be able to see into the kitchen area and watch the prep. Overall it was an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back!

I ordered take out from here a couple of times, and although the fish is high quality, the sushi taste itself isn’t that phenomenal. The ratio of rice to fish is on the higher side and the torched sushi is high quality, but garnish could be so much better to improve the taste. Overall, if there’s a BOGO deal, it may be worth it otherwise I wouldn’t bother ordering sushi from here. That said, I’ve ordered a few of their hand rolls before and those are really awesome and super delicious especially the tuna belly.

Ordered sushi, paid, and tipped 20% before I was told I could not sit and eat my food there an hour and 15 minutes before they closed. I sat a communal table and ate my food from a take out container and left 55 minutes before they closed.
Best sushi I’ve had

This is one of the best sushi places downtown.
The quality is consistently high — everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor, and it really shows the moment you start eating.
I’ve tried many sushi places, and this one is definitely among the top.
That’s why every time I’m downtown, I make sure to come here. Highly recommended!

Specializing in torched pressed sushi, it's one of the top spots to try a different take on sushi. The sweet and acidic marinade is balanced nicely to complement savory salmon, which is topped with creamy mayo and torched to bring a savory smokiness, and finished with a touch of spice with a thinly sliced jalapeno.

Been here a few times now - every time the service is amazing and the food is 10/10. The chefs are so friendly. If you want Michelin star sushi at a reasonable price you have to come!

A+! Randomly checked out this spot in the Waterworks Food Hall. Amazing quality fish! It's quite better than most high end restaurants. I love the charcoal used. Oh my gosh, the UNI and TORO was top grade. Love the way they prepared our dishes. The flavors on point. Hands down to the chef and staff. We were visiting from California and this is now on our top 5 sushi joints. The value of money you spend there is well worth it. Service great. Hope to visit in the future at their locations.

small portion size, good sushi
Ok sushi spot, nothing amazing in particular, i would say in general it’s quite average or maybe subpar for many more picky customers, the yellowtail crudo is pretty good though the price is a bit too high, personally won’t revisit
