Had a birthday dinner here with my fiance - the food was great you can definitely taste the difference in quality compared to an avg sushi restaurant is very noticeable. Our waiter shawn was also very friendly and provided very prompt and welcoming service. Would recommend for anyone celebrating a special occasion

Solid service and beautiful interior. Exterior is a bit too low key but that’s okay. Food tastes wonderful.

Beautifully presented dishes, great attentive service and great ambience. This is a spot to bring someone to impress. It is a pricy place but that is to be expected by attached to a fancy hotel and also being the restaurant of a Michelin star chef

Really tasty food and incredible interior design! Each dish was thoughtfully presented and tasted so so good. We got about 6 dishes between 2 people and that was more than enough food. If there is one thing you must get, get the wagyu tacos!!!! They were spiced perfectly and so flavourful and juicy. Edamame was tossed in a savoury kimchi butter which added a little touch of spice. We also got the tuna belly sushi and wagyu nigiri with truffle (also so good!!). And sushi rice and salmon tataki. 10/10!

We had a wonderful experience at Akira Back Toronto. This was our 2nd AB experience as we were regular patrons of the AB at Dubai. There were a few familiar favorites on the menu such as Jidori Chicken, Mushroom/Tuna pizza, The Geisha, Galbi Lamb Chops, Wagyu Tacos and the Apple Harumaki. Our server Greg was pitch perfect and suggested us a few items that we should consider. Every item that we ordered was music to our palettes and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had come to celebrate a special occasion and the staff did not put a foot wrong. Akira Back lived up to its reputation and we were happy patrons as always. Thank you very much Greg for your excellent service.

Disappointing. Very, very disappointing.

I am normally able to let a lot slide in these particular matters. This, unfortunately, is one of the cases that cannot be ignored. I came to this restaurant for the first time for one of my closest friends birthdays. The location, ambiance, food and our server were spectacular; all to be ruined by one of the most poorly conducted "show runner manager experiences" in customer service I have EVER come across. I have helped opened multiple chain restaurants with magnificent teams, run my own personal teams, and still work in the field of customer service. There were 6 of us in attendance and 5/6 had separate verbal confrontations with the manager, Abdu. The individual clearly has little to no experience in the field of customer service and it's unfortunate; given the status and luxury of such a fine restaurant. His ability to handle the issue of our party needing to leave the table at a set time (after reservations had been placed and approved) was a disgrace to say the least. The verbal dispute was handled with a "cool guy" smirk and attempt towards remedy with a single shot of alcohol for the birthday girl. Furthermore, the General Manager in whom Abdu said was not present (out of embarrassment, I'm sure) came to the rescue after the upper-hand was notified (I'm sure multiple times) of Abdu's poor attempt at salvaging the situation. The gentleman stated he'd reach out and invite the birthday girl back for a proper experience to no avail. I highly suggest a very elaborate team meeting, blueprint session, and maybe even a reset on management to ensure that customers are handled with the finest care within a fine restaurant. To the GM, you nearly had it with the close and the gesture was exceptional. You just dropped the ball when it mattered most. Actions speak louder than words and for that reason in lacking, I'm out. Never to return again.

Had to wait until all the hype died down to try this place! I had a wonderful time here, staff were really friendly and responsive and service was good. We were able to try most of the staple dishes that people rave about and it was good. Nothing bad to say about anything, everything was just good. Considering that this is fine dining I guess the prices reflected that but there wasn’t anything that really stood out to me except for the miso soup and some of the sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were great, we reordered some. The spicy miso soup was incredible, I would come back just for the miso soup. Wagyu tacos and fried rice was not everything I thought it was going to be but like I said, it was just good. There were some other things we ordered but nothing to really note.

Overall, 7/10. Would probably come back to try other things for sure!

WOW! We recently went on a Saturday night with 2 other couples to celebrate my birthday. It was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Everything from the moment we walked in was perfect from the wait staff to the Sommelier to the menu to the decor. The dishes were really different and each one was more delicious than the next. The Big hits we unanimously chose were the tuna pizza, wagyu tacos, the creamy spinach, pop rockin rolls, hot mess sashimi rolls and apple harumaki for dessert. There are plenty of choices for anyone with food allergies and restrictions. The restaurant overall had a really cool vibe. The bonus is that the namesake Akira is a Michelin star rated chef. I highly recommend this restaurant! N.B. I only took one photo as I was so taken by the experience I forgot to take more.

Good food but not for its price. How does a Michelin-starred chef have the word "Nutella" on their menu? I certainly had a few divine mouthfuls but the surroundings are ostentatious. I miss Hiro!
