The food and the atmosphere is nice.
However, I was amused with training quality of our server.
With all the respect to their services, it wasn’t no where near an elevated experience! Being a server in general requires a personality and attitude which brings new memories to a table and I hope they try for best next time.

The food was beautifully presented, unique, and perfectly balanced- everything you would expect from a top-tier dining experience!
However, the main reason I’m leaving this review is because of our server, Kate.
I’ve had the opportunity to dine at many fine dining restaurants, but Kate’s service was truly on another level. Her kindness was not performative or rehearsed- it was genuine and heartfelt. She brought such positive energy to the table and paid attention to even the smallest details.
Beyond being exceptionally professional and efficient, what stood out most was her sincerity. You could truly feel that she cared about each guest and genuinely wanted us to have a wonderful experience.
That kind of authenticity is rare.
Thanks to Kate, our dinner was not just a great meal, but a memorable and meaningful experience. I’m sincerely grateful and wanted to make sure she receives the recognition she deserves!

Akira Back is the perfect sushi date spot if you’re looking to spend a little more. My date and I ordered 7 (miso soup, mushroom pizza, wagyu tacos, shrimp rock, poprock in’, king crab fried rice, tuna sashimi) different menu items as we were recommended by Kate. My highlight being the tuna and mushroom pizza or the maguro tuna sashimi, both tunas were very high quality. My date’s favourite was the wagyu tacos, very flavourful and crunchy. Kate was so helpful and really made our dinner!! Ask for her when you go! Tons of photo opportunities if that’s your thing. Would definitely come akira BACK for more.

Our waitress Ashley was such a sweetheart! She gave stellar suggestions, was timely, and exercised a lot of patience waiting on us to choose from the menu. The ambiance is like nothing I've ever seen in the states. Akira back 10/10.
Great food with great service. Definitely try the tuna and mushroom sushi pizza, its not what you think and very delicious. The wagyu beef tacos are also delicious.

Not our first time here and it's consistently great. Everything was spot on, as usual. Greg was fantastic - totally on the ball and seamlessly coursed out our meal without us even having to open the menu. Always a reliable experience.
It was alright not the best. Eventho we booked this a month ago but they still choose to sit us somewhere nt good
Delicious food, best sashimi I’ve ever had

I love this place. I came here twice in a week and I wish I’d come a few more times, in retrospect. It felt like home while being away from home, and when I returned with my boss the following evening, they made an incredible impression and were so kind. The food is very good and often presented and very novel and unique ways (cucumber salad as small flowers is so cute), and the environment is dimly lit, relaxing, and felt like a warm hug after an incredibly busy week. I cannot wait to return. The wagyu nigiri was my favorite bite during my time in Toronto, and I think my coworkers probably got tired of hearing about it. The eggplant is also incredible. I really loved the corn fritters, great texture and flavor, but noticed the truffle flavor was really pronounced in the aioli.
A note for the chef and the chef only: if novelty is being brought to dishes, ensure it’s implemented in a way that makes sense or improves. for instance, there’s a spicy tuna roll with watermelon pop rocks, when asked for a rec between it and another option, one of the servers using the POS mentioned it was sent back fairly frequently for being sweet. It seemed to be a micro-trend across the menu.

The food was excellent — fresh, well prepared, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by how confusing the location and arrival process were. The website says the restaurant is on the second floor of the hotel, but upon arriving we were told to leave the hotel and enter from next door, which wasn’t clearly indicated. Inside, the entrance was also unclear, with a coat check sign but no guidance on where to go or how to be seated. The service reflected the same lack of warmth, as our hostess and server came across as cold.
A great kitchen, but clearer directions and more welcoming service would go a long way in improving the experience.
