1 star because charging $80 for “cake plating” for a table of 8 is beyond ridiculous. Secondly, the server asked us about bringing the cheque the second we finished eating and wanted us out. That’s a 0 for hospitality and no good food can redeem this restaurant for such behaviour. Alder is a no-go.

Perfect place for a brunch with friends, the service was amazing.
Was really impressed with the fried chicken and the shakshuka was so balanced, everything was delicious but the coconut cream pie is definitely a highlight!

INCREDIBLE. It's been so long since I've been to a restaurant where I could literally ordered the menu. The music was a vibe for a Friday night. Just loud enough to be vibey, but quiet enough to have a dinner. DAVE!! You made our night. Thank you. My new favourite restaurant in the city. I will be back again and soon at that. Thank you!!

This place is very aethestically pleasing. Architectural design is really well implemented. This is a great place to hangout even if not dining. The food, presentation and service all exceeded our expectations. I would however give Alder a lower score on the restaurant ambiance. Turn down the music!! Way over the top loud and sorry to say the playlist needs some attention. I get that there is an open air bar above the dining area, it sounded like we were transplanted in the middle of a rap concert. Not a bad thing, just way too loud. Please do yourself and the patrons spending over $100 a head to dine. Turn the music down.

Highly overrated. Nice looking place but no vibe. Service was basic. The only dish that was memorable was the coconut cream pie. Gem salad had a nice dressing. Ravioli was bland, we had to ask for salt. Crudo was ok. The braised short ribs were more like a steak. They were not fork tender at all; did not resemble any braised short ribs i’ve ever had. I’m very surprised by the food considering how amazing Alo and Aloette are. For $300 per couple with 2 cocktails each, there are much better places to dine in the city. I would skip.

Alder is a great space to be in – décor, vibe (and food to match). Definitely recommend to try out if you haven’t, and it’s a place that I would be happy to come back to again.
Went for brunch and they had live musicians performing some chill covers of R&B/ ballad songs. There are large windows facing west so you get lots of sunlight coming into the dining room.
Had the Ricotta Toast to start. The ricotta with the chili honey is a great flavour combo. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the thickness of the toast, as well as what was a bit of a chalky, crumbly texture to it. Otherwise, it’s a good dish.
Also had the Fried Chicken. The chicken was golden brown, moist inside and crispy on the outside, and seasoned well. It came with a waffle that was a pleasant texture to have with the chicken. The habanero sauce at the base of the dish is a bright orange that lights up the plate and invites you in. It’s a well balanced dish texture- and taste-wise.
Service is pretty spotty. When they do get to your table, they seem to do things very much at their convenience. It’s a point of improvement, I’d say to make sure guests are attended to and that they’re not just waiting around.

It is absolutely beautiful venue. The service is a five-star level of attention and detailing. The food is so well prepared and everything is so balanced. The staff are extremely attentive. We went for brunch and they also play live music on Sundays. it was a lovely rendition of Classics but in a very chill vibe. Definitely recommend this place, and looking forward to come back for dinner.

I came here for dinner
greeted by the hostess, then seated right in front of the kitchen. I ordered a drink and some food. The drink arrived and was refreshing, pretty good.
For food, I had the baked clams, which was a beautiful dish with great flavors.
The short ribs were well-balanced, though a bit chewy at times.
The Kanpachi crudo had a perfectly executed salsa macha.
Finally, the coconut cream pie was a beautiful dish, though it could be done with fewer chocolate shavings and less toasted coconut.
Overall, it was a great experience

I really wanted to like this place, but I was disgusted to realize that they serve Foie Gras (it's on their Valentine's Day menu). This disgusting and cruel dish has no place in modern society. I'm sad that I didn't realize this before I came here for the first time, but I hope this serves as a warning to future patrons.

We went for the Valentine's set menu, so this might not be their usual experience. The food was good, but at $140 per person, it felt a bit overpriced. Every dish had potential but was held back by something small—like the foie gras and beef, which tasted good but had a chewy cut of beef that reminded me more of pork.
They automatically added a 20% tip, which I’m not a fan of, but the service was good, so I would have tipped that much anyway.
If you go in winter and get cold easily, ask for a table away from the stairs—we were cold by the end of the meal!
