It's a great pub and the food was delicious. I had the steak salad and the steak was amazing. My husband loved the fish and chips to. I would definitely recommend Allen's but make a reservation as it's always busy on the weekends.

Great food and service. Very lively. No screens or loud music, so easy to have a conversation.

Each dish met expectations of our party. The liver I had was delicious with onions cooked perfectly, and rich balsamic gravy.

Had a great omelette that was a ‘special'....i would have liked a Caesar's salad with it but our lovely waitress/server said that I could only have a green salad with it.....ah well....but that was tasty anyway,so no biggie...

Allen's is the place to go on the night of a show at Danforth Music Hall. Good selection of drinks (I went with my old standard Guinness). Opened with a Caesar salad and pork & chive Japanese dumplings. The mojo verde sauce with the dumplings was delicious; the salad was well presented with shaved parmesan on top of a mountain of tastefully dressed romaine. Followed with braised beef short ribs, and lager battered halibut & chips. Short ribs were cooked to perfection with parmesan mashed potatoes that were smooth as silk; the fish was absolutely delicious and fries were crispy; The lemon-dill tartar sauce was unique and really tasty. Although we were pretty full, we were in the mood for ending with sticky toffee pudding (perfect) and chocolate Guinness cake (amazing). Haven't had a meal that good in a while. Our server was also extremely attentive. Unexpected bonus was having the good fortune of seeing the band eating there before their show! I love this place and can't wait to go back next time we visit the Danforth area.

Food was good, service was busy but friendly and efficient, prices are competitive with other establishments in their quality range. We were mid-restaurant and the background talking noise was so loud we could only barely hear each other across the table - maybe two words out of five. To the credit of Allen's there was no loud music behind it (or, at least, any that could be heard, above the din of the diners). It being an older crowd, there were no shrieking laughter contests from the larger tables, as the loud laughter competitions tend to be a younger crowd phenomenon. Not sure what else Allen's can do to reduce this frankly unhealthy sound level, but some sound deadening fabric covering over the brick walls might help. All things considered, Allen's is just a victim of their own popularity, but for the well-being of staff and customers they should really try to do something to reduce this impossible cacophony.

Always a great dining experience, unfortunately the back “patio” area wasn't open, as it is one of my favourite things about eating at Allen's.

Food was good, but far too expensive for a place like this. Burgers are $20, but a la carte. Adding cheese or bacon is $2 per. Adding Fries is $6 more. End up paying over $30 for a burger and fries. Maybe the only place I've seen burger not include fries. Overpriced. Won't be back.

Second time here. As usual the food was amazing! Served on hot plates too! I had the halibut and chips. Large meaty piece of fish perfectly crispy fried. Just the right amount of batter, ie, more fish than batter. Chips are thick and hand cut, piping hot and crispy. Husband had liver and onions. He loved it. I tried a piece and it was delicious and melt in your mouth. Great value for the quality of the food. We can't wait to go back. Also, husband said his martini was one of the best he's had! Service is top notch!!

Food decent. Service not. Our server, who seemed grumpy from the start, forgot to ring in our calamari app. Ok, it happens. Mains came out, and then 10 minutes later, a line cook came out to deliver the sides to our mains that should have been on our plates. We were nearly done our mains. Getting drinks was a 15 minute process for each round. Earlier, we asked the host to move us inside from the patio as it was getting chilly. His sarcastic answer was, "yeah, sure...its freezing outside." It was definitely not freezing, just uncomfortable. There were many open tables available inside so the move was an easy one. He, like our server, was grumpy about god knows what. We didn't come there to deal with the personal issues of the staff or their job dissatisfaction. We came to enjoy an evening dinner and pay good money to do so with little demond.

Allen's is a classic, the food and the service is always very good. The noise level is high when they are packed but quiets down when the crowds thin out.

So I love cooking Thanksgiving dinner and eating it but wasn't possible this year. Allen's version was as close to a homemade meal I could imagine. Everything was delicious and the portions were what you would do at home when you love turkey like me! Whenever I can't cook again, I will be there. And may go back for US Thanksgiving next month!
