Delicious Portuguese food! The owner served us all night and was wonderful, super attentive and kind. He felt bad because a couple of other tables were noisy (not their fault at all) and was very kind to pour us a delicious glass of wine as a sort of make up gift. Highly recommend!

Quite the disappointment. This establishment came highly recommended by close friends, and based on other reviews, I decided to give it a try. I ordered their much-praised BBQ chicken and the grilled Fresquito shrimp. First, the BBQ chicken was a disaster:
- It was undercooked, especially the thighs, and looked nothing like the photos in the other reviews. Instead of a golden, grilled appearance, it seemed and tasted as if it had been boiled and then lightly fried.
- The chicken itself was utterly bland, missing even basic seasoning like salt and pepper. There were no discernible BBQ flavors from the chicken or the sauce, which was devoid of boldness. A well-balanced BBQ sauce should be a combination of sweet, tangy, and savory; this lacked all three.
- The fries accompanying the dish were another disappointment. The hallmark of a quality kitchen is attention to detail, even in the simplest sides. These fries were clearly frozen, uniform, and uninspired, a far cry from the thick, hand-cut fries you’d expect in an establishment of this caliber. If this is a recent change, which appears to be from the other reviews, it’s certainly a downgrade.
For the price Amadeus charges, and the standard it claims to uphold, I found the quality and taste to be lacking.
The Fresquito shrimp dish included four large shrimp, a small portion of rice, a few sautéed greens, and a side of their same BBQ sauce. The presentation was simple, and the portion size felt modest for the $40 price. Even with quality seafood, the price should reflect more creativity and substance. While the shrimp were well-cooked, the dish didn’t offer enough to justify the cost.
All in all, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place.

My husband and I had a delightful and relaxing Friday dinner here. After asking for a wine list, we were guided to a lovely red bottle to pair with grilled sardines and pork Alentejana. The food was delicious and the service warm and attentive. Probably one of my top 10 dining experiences!

We stopped for lunch here while visiting downtown Toronto.
It's a cute little restaurant with very good service. It was a hot day and we were happy to sit in air-conditioned comfort. Our waiter Francisco was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of plates of Chorizo for appetizers. That was really tasty.
The grilled sea bass, sardines and the fettuccine were delicious. My sister-in-law and I ordered the eggs & cod. Very generous portion, but the dish was a bit bland. But overall we enjoyed our meal.

What a delight to find Amadeus. I’m a Portuguese Canadian and I so miss my bitoque (Portuguese steak and egg in a pimenta sauce) when I’m back in Canada. Amadeus is the first place I’ve found on this side of the Atlantic that does this dish right - took me right back to the islands and the continent. My husband loved his grilled sardines and my sister and nephew declared the bifanas a success. The pasteis de bachalau (codfish croquettes) were fresh and hot hot hot! Excellent conversation and service with the gentleman who took care of us. Thanks for helping me practice my Portuguese!

I wanted to try something a bit different for a meal, and thought that Amadeu's looked worth exploring. It turned out to be a good choice!
There is a good range of dishes to choose from, and I started with a chilled gazpacho which packed quite a punch - very flavoursome, and the ideal starter for a hot day! This was followed by grilled sardines, with an accompaniment of potatoes and peppers, all well presented and a worthy follow up to the gazpacho. The mojito mocktail was a fitting end to the meal, being light and refreshing. Service was efficient, and provided by a very pleasant waitress who genuinely appreciated how much I liked the meal. Even if you think Portuguese cuisine isn't your thing ... Well, maybe Amadeu's will change your mind.

Awesome little gem in Toronto! Great customer service and awesome food! Our server was super friendly and took good care of us. Food was served quick and tasted delicious. We had caldo verde (collard greens soup) and pork cutlet sandwiches. Great prices for the quality of food!
