Ordered Veg Thali
My recent order from Annapurna was unfortunately disappointing due to some serious issues with the food .I discovered a plastic piece in one of the chapatis. This was extremely off-putting and concerning, as it raised questions about the kitchen's hygiene practices. To add to my dismay, the raita included in my order had a hair strand in it. This further highlighted lapses in cleanliness and quality control. As a customer who values transparency and high standards in food service, I hope that the staff takes this feedback seriously and implements rigorous checks to prevent such incidents in the future. Ensuring food safety and hygiene should be a top priority for any establishment aiming to maintain customer satisfaction.
Replying to your reply, yes, we did get the refund from DoorDash. Plastic is completely unacceptable in food .

The owners of Annapurna have sold the building. The restaurant will still be running until roughly Aug 15. The oldest restaurant in Toronto will be closing its doors. They had a good run. I had a spinach and feta dosa. It was special of the day and it was superb.

Vegetarian options: All items are vegetarian. No meat here.

Almost 50 years in Business. 40 years at 1085, Bathurst Street location will be closed permanently sometime in August 2024. Hopefully Management will open somewhere in GTA ( Greater Toronto Area ). Really Great and my favorite Vegetarian Restaurant in Toronto.

I have the rice and vegetables macro plate often and also love the indian style veg curry specials. I question some of the reviews here as I find it strange to order some dish and then complain because you find out you did not like it but there is really nothing wrong with it, it was just is not to YOUR taste. I am very grateful for this food that is not depending on a lot chilis for taste. Could be good to realize we did not even have chilis in India a few hundred years ago, a blink of an eye in India civilization and if you have an ayurvedic perspective they are not much help to all but a very few people healthwise. Some people just love to complain or they want to hold a restaurant hostage for a free meal -or else they threaten to leave a bad review. I have eaten here for many many years , no affiliation with the place and there has NEVER been anything wrong with the food here.

Warm and Quiet place, food is good, vibes are good. Food is like homemade and prepared with care. We had a variety of food like South Indian Dosai, Idli, Bhajia, also had Samosa, Falafel, Hot Cider, Chocolate Tofu Tart. Ambience is pleasant, peaceful and spiritual. So if you are looking for cosy place, where you can read used books, shop some organic stuff and spiritual books, this is the place. Will go back.

Vegetarian options: They have vegan and vegetarian options.

Visited today with family, we ate dosai, idli, hot cider, bhajiya, samosa, and other stuff. The service was great, happy people making and serving, I forgot to catch the name, but she was wonderful, the ambiance is peaceful. The vibe is beautiful, it’s a warm atmosphere, felt like homemade food served with love and care.

I'm so disappointed. I had to throw it in the trash. Such a waste. I wish I could get my money back.Ordered take out on Tuesday March 5th at 5:30pm. Payed by credit card $22.60 for vegetable Tofu plate and potato masala. The potato masala was fine, but I could not eat any of the Tofu, rice, vegetables.

Just brutal. The most bland food I’ve had in my life. I wouldn’t go back if someone paid me.

Well well well Annapurna, I’m not too thrilled. I’m writing on behalf of a dear friend…She’s very upset about the lack of sauce and salt… “and flavour” she exclaimed! She’s questioning herself and her choice. I’m letting you know as a humble contract worker, an artist and a friend.

I love Annapurna, the food is simply delicious. If you want to have “homemade” affordable simple Indian food, Annapurna is a gem you should visit. Fun fact is that Annapurna was the first vegetarian restaurant to open up in Toronto back in 1974 and second vegetarian restaurant in Canada at the time AND the only one still standing ?????
