Best sushi in Toronto, especially for gluten free

I'm allergic to gluten, and Aria Sushi makes my heart happy :) I'm able to enjoy tempura rolls and all of my favorite sushi items that I haven't been able to eat in years. If you're allergic to gluten, or in general just love sushi, this place is amazing!!

Went here for Sunday lunch with my vegan sibling. The staff were so good about explaining what he could have, they even had a vegan miso soup! The lunch#1 was excellent and they have one of the best seaweed salads I've had.

I was highly disappointed. When I first moved to the area back in 2021, this place was phenomenal. So much care and quality ingredients used. I ordered weekly. Ever since the change in management a few years back, this place has gone completely down hill. The fish quality is no where near the same it once was.
We saw the chef microwave the rice before rolling the rolls. Enough said.

Don’t trust their “vegan” options if you’re actually vegan
Edit their “answer” is irrelevant

I am celiac, which means I need to eat gluten free and avoid cross contamination. This restaurant (while not 100% gluten-free) definitely takes allergies seriously, with a separate fryer and cooking area for celiac requests. I love this sushi!! They make such unique rolls with fun flavours/textures. For two people, I would recommend getting a large platter (pictured below) which will allow you to try multiple rolls for only about $30 per person. Would definitely recommend this place, but be sure to call ahead for a reservation as it tends to get quite busy and they do not have a huge seating area.

Bad sushi made with really low quality ingredients and lots of mayo.
I ordered for takeout. Arrived at the restaurant, it had a very nice atmosphere and the staff were very nice.
If you read my other reviews, I love most anything and am rarely disappointed. As a personal standard I don't throw food out, ever. I eat at many sushi places and am rarely disappointed but we were only able to get through half this sushi before tossing it and cooking a frozen pizza.
Here's what we got:
1. Veggie green Dragon roll. It was not great, the yam was just sweet potato fries that you buy frozen at the grocery store, the avocado was fine the rice was overcooked, it was covered in mayo.
2. Yam/sweet potato roll. This was rice on seaweed with cheap sweet potato fries (the ones frozen from the grocery store) inside and covered in a mayo sauce.
3. Spicy butter fish. There was no fish inside, I even opened one up. It was just crispy bits with some mayo.
4. Spicy salmon. There was some salmon in there but mostly crispy bits. The mayo was mediocre but actually had some spice which was nice.
5. Salmon avocado roll. The rice was over cooked (like all the other rice), the salmon and avocado were good but it was covered in mayo.
6. Salmon sashimi. This was actually really good, buttery and fresh.
7. Miso soup. The miso soup was good.
I don't know if we just caught them on an off day or if we ordered the wrong things but I've never had this low quality sushi before.
Also it was pricy pricey, rolls are $2-3 more than the usual sushi places I go to.
Half the sushi is now in the fridge and I don't know what to do with it.
I really dislike rating anything below a 3 but this was really really bad food that I was embarrassed to serve to friends.

Im not from Toronto but whenever we stop in from Thunder Bay, we always find new places to stop and see. Aria was good for a quick stop on our way to the airport. Very welcoming and the food was great. Service was quick and our server made sure we were taken care of and made sure to answer any questions we had.

No soy sauce with my take out order is wild :(
But the sushi did taste good.
Really appreciate this restaurant for having celiac safe tempura sushi, and beer 😋 We'll be back for sure.
