Ariete e Toro is such a cute little gem on Keewatin Ave - one of my favourite sandwich spots in the city. It’s small, cozy, and always spotless, and you can genuinely feel how much care goes into the place.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. They really listen to your requests, and as a vegetarian, I’ve never had any difficulty finding great options or asking for small tweaks. Their menu is great, and everything is always fresh and delicious.

It’s conveniently located, and there’s just something about the place that makes you feel good when you walk in - clean space, warm people, and a lovely neighbourhood vibe.

And whenever Matt, the owner, is around, it’s always nice to have a quick chat: he’s genuinely welcoming and adds such a personal touch to the shop.

Highly recommend this little spot!

I ordered the enzo sandwich online and got it to go. After working at an Italian deli for several years, I can say the mortadella was sliced to perfection. It was just the right thickness. I loved the flavours of the pistachio and cheese. It tasted like an authentic Bologna sandwich.

This sandwich shop is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and serves up Italian-inspired sandwiches that are both fresh and full of flavour; you can really taste the quality in every bite.

They have a few tables on the front patio, but mainly you can order for pickup or takeout and be sure your sandwich stays as fresh since it comes with a thoughtful packaging.

The staff and owner are very nice and friendly and serve the customers with patience.

We tried “Quello Forte” and their latest creation “Il Re”. Both of them tasted amazing; the bread was crunchy and every bite was full of flavour. I loved the combination of black olive pesto, greens and provolone cheese in Quello Forte. As for Il Re, the combination of 3 cold cuts, Provolone Crema, roasted garlic and olive salad had created a perfect taste. Definitely worth every calorie. Lol

Incredible sandwich. Mortadella sliced perfectly thin, the pesto was not overpowering and a nice lil crunch. I’d add arugula to it next time, because I will be coming back!

Sandwich? Ask me about sandwich I’ve been on a quest for it. I saw few shorts and I was salivating, so I took a trip it was far from where I assume it might be. I drove dreaming about the sandwich I would order. I arrived. Wow this spot is super tiny. Okay I have no idea what’s good, so I left it at the faith of the cashier, I told her… you pick. I don’t care and i whispered to my self “you better not blame her”. Ah she selected San Lazzaro… okay I’m not complaining let’s see how it turns out, while waiting I saw the trash cans inside full of perfectly good boxes. I felt bad that the sandwich boxes didn’t have a long life. But as I glanced the kitchen and waiting room, it was spotless.. clean and well lit.
I was day dreaming until I saw my sandwich being prepared. Oh goody

The time has come.. it was ready, I went home with it. I switched on a music, poured a glass of wine and opened the box.. there it was a delicious sandwich cut in two. First bite, I tasted the cured meat and apple. Oh wow this was amazing. But then... the apple. WHO puts crisp, cool, slightly tart apple in a savory masterpiece? GENIUSES, THAT'S WHO! It was the perfect, vibrant counterpoint. It was amazing.

I’m already planning my next pilgrimage. I need to come back. Soon. Very soon. In fact, if you hear a strange, frantic scrabbling sound outside your door right now, don’t worry—it's just me, trying to figure out how to order one telepathically. Or possibly building a tiny, desperate siege engine out of breadsticks.

I need to come back . Soon. Very soon

It was a quiet Sunday when I came across Ariete E Toro. A small neon sign glowed softly above the door — easy to miss if you weren’t looking for it. A couple of patrons were finishing their meal outside; I asked if it was good. They smiled, said “absolutely,” and left. That was all the encouragement I needed.

Inside, the shop was calm and inviting. I ordered the La Primavera, not fully sure what was in it since the menu was in Italian. The gentleman behind the counter told me their bread was called Schiacciata — their own recipe, baked fresh by a local bakery.

When I took the first bite, I knew I had found something special. The bread had the perfect crunch — crisp on the outside, soft and airy inside. Then came the basil and herbs, the fresh arugula, and the turkey al vapore — unbelievably moist and tender. The Italian fior di latte melted into tomato crudo, lightly dressed with Cipo Cipo vinaigrette, giving every bite a bright, sweet balance. At the bottom, a layer of pecorino crema added a creamy, savory finish that tied everything together.

Every bite was harmony — fresh, balanced, and deeply satisfying. What started as a random stop turned into the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time.
