A classic, local hidden gem of a “diner”. Staff are friendly and the food is exceptional. Shout out to the breakfast potatoes. If you’re within walking distance and are hungry avenue open kitchen will sort you right out. Brilliant place!

Had the pastrami sandwich, coffee, hamburger, poutine - very good and great value

Very small place. What you’d expect from a “hole in the wall” type restaurant. Staff was very friendly and the food was prepared very quickly. Very good and straightforward breakfast. Nothing fancy, but good homemade-style food.

Wanted to have affordable breakfast outside and found out about this place which seemed nice on the reviews. Went in at around 2 p.m. which was slow and they were about to close in a hour or so. Received not much attention during the meal except fast order taking and food making.

Food was good, tried the peameal bacon and egg sandwich. A very simple sandwich yet delicious.

Did not even look at me when saying thank you when I was paying my bill. Made me feel like I was a pest or that my dining there was not appreciated. Completely tarnished my whole experience dining here.

Such a great neighbourhood gem! I’ve been coming here for a few years and it’s been consistently good. Great breakfast and amazing Montreal smoked meat. In fact possibly the best smoked meat in Toronto. Served freshly cut, with your choice of mustard and on rye bread. It doesn’t get more authentic!

The quality has gone downhill unfortuantly. The steak was quite salty and the potatoes were soggy. The service was fast though

Last couple of times I ordered from Avenue Open Kitchen the food wasn't enjoyable. Both the roast beef sandwich and french fries + gravy was super salty and the meat was dry -not juicy like before. Food used to be far better prior to pandemic. Thought would give Avenue Open Kitchen another try. The hot hamburger didn’t include veggies. Gravy was so salty. Even without gravy the fries alone are super salty. Never eating here again.

A Canadian diner that doesn't have maple syrup is embarrassing, food otherwise is excellent

The food was ok. The potatoes were a bit off. Not sure why this place has high rate. Place is small.

People here were super friendly. I ordered the Montreal smoked meat with eggs and a cup of coffee, which was excellent. The place has a nice old-school diner vibe that I really enjoyed. If you’re craving Montreal smoked meat, I definitely recommend it.
