Bar Bacan is an authentic little Venezuelan/Argentinian place in Roncy - when you step inside you can hear rapid-fire, lovely Spanish, the music transports you, and the food - oh my goodness. From arepas to empanadas and more, the food brings you to Latin America. I'm a vegetarian, and their vegetarian and even vegan options are hearty, wholesome, filling, and so so tasty - their spinach bechamel empanada has quickly become my favourite but the cheese and onion one isn't far behind - not to mention their black bean, plaintain, cheese arepas for when I'm hungrier! You're missing out if you haven't tried this gem of a place!

This place is a gem--especially for those of us who need to eat gluten-free! Really enjoyed the yuca fries in particular. I will definitely be back.

Have visited here a couple of times and really this is some of the nicest Latin fusion food I’ve had in Toronto. The service was warm and inviting, the restaurant itself is cozy and well appointed. The portions were perfect and just the right amount to leave you satisfied but not overfull. The flavours are perfectly balanced and each bit is a tasty symphony. They have a great meal for two deal that is a must try. If you want wholesome, authentic and just really good Venezuelan and Argentine food. Come here! You are going to like it and it’s a locally owned family restaurant so you can feel good about supporting it.

Bar Bacan on RonciAve is the real deal. Wine by the glass and really genuine Latin food. Small patio in a peaceful setting. Totally recommend.

Great spot for an affordable bite on roncy. We've been coming since pre-pandemic when it was more of a steakhouse, but they've since pivoted to more street food. Arepas and empanadas, if you go on the right day you can get a filling meal on thei nice little curbside patio for $10!

Also worth getting some frozen empanadas to take home! I haven't had it but brunch would be pretty good I bet!

We went to Bar Bacan for the 1st time in July, so happy they offer gluten free because I have Celiac Disease. We got the Pabellón Arepas and Cachapa with beef and fell in love with their delicious cuisine. We couldn't stop thinking about it, so 2 months later, we drove 2½ hours just to get it again. This time we brought a cooler! We dined in and also ordered 6 Pabellón Arepas to go. They so carefully and thoughtfully packaged each ingredient separately so we could assemble them at home and they wouldn't end up soggy. Oh the joy of having that heavenly aroma in our home when we reheated it!! So delicious!!
They are so warm and welcoming, so delightful, you feel at home in this charming small restaurant. Worth the drive! And so Celiac Safe!!

I’ve been to Bar Bacan a few times now, and every time I’m blown away by how delicious the empanadas are. And that chimichurri? Muah, perfect! 🤌 The friend I brought loved it, too.

The staff are also super sweet and genuine. I kind of snuck up on our server as I was leaving today and he turned into me and the poor man was *so* apologetic— if that was you and you read this, don’t worry about it! 😂 I saw you coming, you’re fine.

Will definitely be back!

A cozy spot with great vibes.
I tried the ‘Pabellón arepa’ —though it was smaller than I expected, it was delicious and satisfying. Definitely worth coming back for!

Bar Bacan was a gem on our culinary adventure food tour — the kind of stop that makes you wish the tour guide would “accidentally” forget to move on. We started with yucca fries that were crispy, golden, and straight-up addictive. Warning: they may cause irrational cravings and sudden fry betrayal toward potatoes.

Then came the empanadas: one veggie, one beef. Not flaky, but hearty and packed with flavour, like little pockets of joy that you don’t want to share (but fine, we did).

The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed — the perfect breather before tackling the rest of the tour. Bar Bacan might just be the spot that quietly steals the whole food crawl.
