I used to love this café — it was one of my favorites. But today I was shocked to find out they no longer have a kitchen, and I strongly advise everyone not to go anymore. I bought a “Patagonia” salad for $15 and it was completely inedible — old, spoiled, one of those pre-packaged refrigerated salads that should never be served. I can’t believe they’re selling this kind of food. On top of that, I was served by a young man who was rude and unpleasant. The service was terrible, the food was worse — disgusting and clearly expired — and the place itself was filthy. Dirty, dirty, dirty. I will never go back. This café has completely lost everything that once made it special.
Good spot but understaffed
Nice place and good coffee. Washrooms are available on the main floor and upstairs.
I can see people like it as it is a busy place lol. The place is pretty big, they have upper and lower seats. Might be back to try the food!
We stop here a couple of times a week after a long walk. We spend $25 with tip each time. We like the coffee – an Americano and a decaf latte. The food, almond croissant and scone our go-to’s, is average coffee shop fare. The manager is not the friendliest and quite dismissive of any feedback. I asked her if the almond croissant was fresh today – her response was that it is “fresh today”. I said that it tasted stale, she didn’t stop what she was doing to me engage me, no smile, made me feel as though I was bothering her. I believe that it’s “literally” (not “figuratively”) her job to provide service to customers. After coming here on repeat, we won’t return.
Nice place and friendly staff and clean bathroom and good food and drink.
This is a café/restaurant right in the heart of Bloor West Village. It's relatively large indoor and patio space result in a lot of available seating.
The service counter is located far to the back of the cafe making ordering slightly awkward. However It is a good place for coffee and to chat due to the multiple seating options.
The coffee here is consistently excellent and my cortado was rich and creamy . Certainly a worthwhile stop for a good coffee when you're in Bloor West Village.
Long waits and somewhat overpriced, but the coffee and pastries are good.
Loooong time customer of this little place. However, the last few months I've noticed a decline in both the customer service & the cleanliness. When I ordered, I asked that someone wipe the table of crumbs, etc. It wasn't done, so I did it myself. The food is still excellent, but it arrived cold after a long wait. The waiter brought me tea with no milk/sugar & when I asked for some, he brought it with no spoon. I mentioned that there was no tp in the bathroom, and when I used it an hour later, before I left, the tp dispenser was still empty. It was NOT busy, so there was no obvious reason for this slack service. And all of this after a 25% tip!
The coffee is excellent and well priced. Also, the food is good. Although, the interior is super basic, the place is spacious! Which is super great when you want to meet up with friends or take your kids along.
Tables dirty, broom on floor waiting for someone to trip, no teamwork for 2 workers, slow to serve coffee

I work next door to this cafe, I really love this place, it's always delicious, and there are very handsome guys working here.
Good product and service, but quite pushy about tips, when placing the order, even though the customer service reps, at the cash register, know, fully well, that customers have to pick up their orders, from the counter. In other words, there is self-service, rather than service, at the table, where the customer should be served, in order that a fair tip may be given. This is quite disappointing, and the responsibility for this approach, rests with the management team, rather than with the customer service reps, or the machine, that accepts payment, or anyone / anything else.
Great little Neighbourhood gem! Coffee was amazing, crepe was ok. Was nice ambiance to catch up with a friend. Not sure I’d come back for the food, but would definitely come back for coffee!
Good quality and convenient coffee shop on bloor west. Nice atmosphere
I've been a customer of Baka for multiple years now. I love the fact that there is almost always a table, yet a solid atmosphere. I love taking my laptop there and doing some work while I have lunch or just a latte. I finally have to write a review though, because I'm having a harder time coming back, each time. There are often used plates and cups on the tables. There are often crumbs on the tables and floors. The staff are rarely in any kind of a hurry to clean things up and I've had to bus my own table to sit down on multiple occasions. I love the location and the vibe that this place can offer...I'd just love to see this run cleaner. I'm sure I'm not in the minority.
