I’m really disappointed with the food we ordered for these special Christmas holidays to be honest.. we went with their premium option for 10 persons - barbacoa de Picanha, it sounded delicious but it was not unfortunately. I’ll start with the good things first - the meat was really well cooked, soft but it felt like it was simply cooked either in the meat’s sauce alone or water - no salt, no condiments or spices, nothing. Very soft but bland. Green pasta was really delicious, no complains. The potatoes were terrible, 70% weren’t even cooked, they were just hard, pale and overall quite bad. The apple salad again was just apples with some small extra fruits thew here and there, again very watery with no real flavour, and that nuts salad.. i mean look at it, terrible. Now normally I would give it a pass but since this food was 520$ I do think that the restaurant either owes us an explanation or atleast an apology, and specially for ( in my opinion ) the most important dinner of the year. Si van a cobrar mas de 500$ por una entrega yo creo que por lo menos pueden tomar su tiempo en checar si la comida esta cocida por lo menos, no enviarmos una charolla de papas que ni eran cocidos, nada mas aceite y oregano… la verdad es que me siento decepcionado por lo que recibimos de ustedes y creo que la cualidad o atencion a detalle tiene que mejorar. 2/5

I recently visited Balam, and it was fantastic from start to finish. I tried the shrimp taco, pastor taco, and tinga de pollo, and each one had its own standout flavor. Beyond the food, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive. Balam is definitely a spot I’ll be returning to — highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, well-crafted Mexican tacos.

Tried birria taco and carnitas bowl take out and they were both delicious! Both very flavorful and portion is very generous. Glad to find good local restaurant. Place is fairly small with not many seat. Staffs were very nice too. Will definitely go back

It’s my second time at Balam. The first time I tried the chilaquiles and they were delicious. On my last visit, I had the birria tacos with cheese — they were amazing, but nothing beats the carnitas tacos! The service is also excellent; Erick was very kind and attentive. The horchata and jamaica drinks were really good too! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Tasty but just wish there were 2 tortillas for the tacos as they fell apart easily. It also took a bit because our order was given to the wrong table.
Yummy food! The chorizo beans dip was a star, but I didn’t get to capture them. Affordable price, friendly service and so close to subway 🤤I hope they always get busy cause they sure deserve it 🫶🏻

Great place to eat authentic Mexican food! The chilaquiles verdes and the torta de cochinita were delicious! For dessert we had conchas and they are the best we’ve had in Toronto.

This place is awesome! The tacos are as delicious as they are authentic. The service was too notch, our server was great and very attentive, making recommendations and making sure we knew what was in each taco before confirming our order. I wanted to take a photo to post with this review but the food was too delicious and we literally ate everything down to the last crumb.
I’m so happy discovered this little gem of a spot in the neighbourhood! 10/10, highly recommended.
