Went for a large birthday gathering. Food was a set menu and was not impressive. Small portions, not as advertised and cheesecake was burnt. On top of that drinks were watered down A LOT.As for the service... the waiter's for some reason didn't keep track of individual orders and peer pressured us to all split as a table; then had the audacity to include a more than modest tip?! They didn't even do the basics, aka track who ordered what and charge them for it???The staff were cool, and the atmosphere was OK but for the price and what you get, there are a gazillion other places to go to.

Checked out Bar St. Lo for Sunday brunch and it was a pretty chill scene, just us and a couple other groups. The interior’s got a vibe that feels more evening-ready, but it was still a nice place to kick off the morning. We dived into chicken and waffles plus avocado toast. The chicken and waffles hit the sweet spot—literally a bit sweet, but delicious. The chicken was on point, and the waffles did a great job soaking up the cream, which was light and had this unique flavor that really tied the dish together. The avocado toast was a win too. They nailed the avocado-to-toast ratio, and the bread was just right—not too crunchy, easy to bite into. Adding crunchy onion bits and feta brought a nice salty kick that took the toast up a notch.Tried their homemade pear juice as well, super refreshing. Service was quick and fantastic, with our questions answered and food served up fast.Overall, Bar St. Lo is a gem that deserves more daytime buzz. Great value for money, and I’m already planning to head back for a night visit to see how the vibe changes.

I took my family here for the first time. We got oysters and grilled octopus for apps. Fresh oysters with their special spicy mango sauce. The octopus was grilled nicely, on a bed of greens and nuts; tangy and slightly spicy. The main, black cod was very nice too. An Asian take, grilled cod on soba noodles, mushrooms and Bok Choy. The cod was cooked nicely, the soba noodles were coated with sauce of miso and dashi, very umami flavor. There was a white creamy, slightly sweet sauce on the cod (almost like mayo); nice finish touch. Some mushrooms on the side were soaked in vinegar, so it was interesting as well. Interesting food, great vibes. Highly recommend for a date night or after work hangout.

We went on Friday to enjoy some cocktails and late night dinner and we were delighted at the inventive flavours, complex cocktails and outstanding service.Matthew was our bartender and his cocktails were sublime and thoughtfully crafted! We had the seasonal cocktails; Herbal Remedy, Terajuma and the smokey Remy Smith! Quality Street cocktail is fantastic if you want to be transported into the holidays!Chicken and waffles were a great way to start the meal but the slaw, stole the show with its texture and surprise spicy kick! Duck confit is so flavourful. The fois Gras with cinnamon toast crunch, and sweet sauce was such a fun dish we'd absolutely get it again! This joint has solid music, good vibes and is a great date spot to boot.

I love this neighborhood staple. Excellent food, ambience and always random awesome events happening in the evening. A great escape from king street chaos.

Been here twice. First time was during brunch and that was amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They left a very strong positive impression. That really set high expectations for dinner.A few days later, decided to go on a dinner date with my partner and experience was exactly opposite. To their benefit, it was a Friday evening dinner rush.1. It took almost an hour for our food start coming in, which also included a plate of half dozen oysters.2. We also ordered pork chops. Keeping aside the fact that it came really late, the meat was extremely dry. We couldn’t even force ourselves to go for a second bite. This has rarely ever happened to either of us. We don’t like to waste food so believe me when I say it was extremely dry.3. The last straw was when the check arrived. My partner had gone to the washroom before the waitress brought the check. She just put the check and left (even though she had brought the card machine with her) as if not expecting me to pay at all. When I finally caught her attention and told her I’m ready to pay, she looked surprised! It maybe the accumulated frustration by this point, but that felt really insulting.Overall, I really did want to like this place after such an amazing brunch experience but this dinner left a bad taste in mouth (especially that super dry pork chops). Definitely not worth $150 that I shelled out.

Bar St Lo is a vibe. Nestled next to the St Lawrence market, picture walking down a few steps into dark cave-like space. The exposed bricks signal you are in a heritage building. Nice spot for a date or dinner with friends. The menu is small, curated and it rotates periodically. There is a small happy hour menu, a dinner menu and a drinks menu. The menu font is small though, it's much easier to scan the QR code and read it from your phone. Their cocktails are quite unique and inventive. We ordered four different ones and in each tasted surprising and unexpected flavors. Be sure to read the ingredients. Their food was very good. Their star item is the black cod, which has stayed on the menu consistently. The octopus was also very well done. I love octopus, however always worry it will be overcooked. This one was perfect. Our table also ordered the duck confit which was delicious. It's a more substantial portion and comes with gnocchi, spinach and mushrooms. Would recommend all items ordered. Bar St Lo sometimes hosts events. We were told there was an after party at 11pm and welcomed to stay. We didn't end up staying, but were intrigued for next time.
