Excellent tasty + fresh meal enjoyed in a lovely, bright atmosphere. Service was friendly and professional. Highly recommend!
The food was delicious and I appreciated that they could alter dishes for the food sensitivities that my friend and I have. We also sat in the separate room to the left and it was lovely and quiet for us oldies. Thus my review as quiet. In the main rain it was noisier. Thank you
Best burger in town! Oh yes, so are the fries. So lucky to have this bistro in our part of the city.
We waited and waited and waited for our food . Others around us arrived , ordered and ate ... we waited . No apologies no explanation but with the bill came a piece of bread pudding . Extremely annoying . My blackened haddock was dry without mayo I had to ask another server to bring the sauce as our server once dumping food on our table never came back to see if all was ok. Eaten there many times but first time service and food were so frustratingly bad .
We celebrated New Year’s Eve at this fantastic restaurant, and everything was perfect. The warm, festive atmosphere set the tone for a memorable night.
We started with warm olives, which were deliciously seasoned. For mains, the Steak Frites and Veal Schnitzel were outstanding—the steak was tender and flavorful, the schnitzel crispy and juicy, and the frites perfectly golden.
The staff made us feel special all evening. A perfect spot for great food and a magical celebration. Highly recommended!

Simple dishes are cooked and served with the taste. The chef’s done solid work. High prices. service easily reminiscences Bahnhofstrasse. Pleasant interior: painted walls and lights at night. Overall laidback atmosphere. 60+ clientele. booking does not always work properly. Don’t come at around 5 pm , kitchen seems to have a break and you will have to really wait for your mains.

We had a mouse run by our table. Mentioned it to the server and was told that the owner/chef isn't concerned about the mice.
After that the food didn't sit as well.
The service was inattentive. No one checked to see if we were liking our food, finished our food, drinks and water for awhile before being asked if we wanted anything else, asked for the bill to be split by couple and then was brought one bill.
The German food specialities were great. Scallops were fishy. But who know if the mice got into any of it....

Cute place.
Waiters doesn't come every 5 minutes to ask "how's everything" which I appreciate.
Food comes fast, delicious a little loud though.
Highly recommended the octopus.

Three times in a row - insanely nice food. Salads are lovely. Sausage truffle gnocchi is absolutely outstanding. I don’t eat veal, but the schnitzel does looks delicious. German beer selection is also great. Had about 10 different dishes and not one has been less than excellent.

Food is really really good, at a reasonable price, but the night we were there they had problems with the reservation system (finally seating our group in a pretty ugly - but nice and quiet- room). My only concern/question, really, is why couldn't my friends and I pay individually? We were forced to pay on one bill; I've not been to a resto in recent years where this has happened.

Great layout for a unique space. Food was exceptional.
Service was sub par. Inability to separate checks with a pos able to do so was frustrating after an inattentive service.

This was our first time visiting Barnsteiners as it is called today (we had eaten in the restaurant there in its previous iteration). My husband and I brought my 86 year old mother. The food was very good (I had the Mix salad with grilled calamari add-on.....SOOOO good, husband had the veal schnitzel....Good, mom had the salmon....Very Good). Our server was fabulous. My only complaint was that there was a table of 8-10, mostly men late 20 somethings, at the table behind us and it was very VERY loud. Sadly, they all left just as we were paying our bill and that was when it quieted down. I will definitely go back to the restaurant and hope that it is quieter next time. Afterall, it isn't the restaurant's fault...they were having fun.
