I’d been craving a good Chopped Cheese since my trip to New York, and Berkeley Cafe absolutely delivered! The sandwich was spot on, and their bagels are a must-try too — simple, fresh, and delicious. The service was excellent, and I loved relaxing on the clean outdoor patio surrounded by trees. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Let me tell you about how I fell in love with a sandwich. I was skeptical at first. A falafel sandwich? Not a wrap or pita? Yes, sandwich, and one without cheese! But the sauce on this sammie is so creamy, and with a fresh baguette that’s crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, tangy pickles and crisp lettuce, that cheese is an afterthought.
Was this sandwich more expensive than others nearby? Did it take longer? Yeah. But I’d willingly spend a whole hour’s wage and my entire lunch break waiting for a sandwich as delicious as this.

I recently returned after some time away, and let me tell you, it’s still just as incredible as the day it opened.
The chicken sandwich is nothing short of soulful. It’s tasteful, blissful, and strikes that perfect balance of flavor, texture, softness, and crispiness. Usually, sandwiches get messy, ingredients fall out, and it becomes a balancing act. But not here. Everything is tucked in perfectly, and even if something does fall (like a crisp piece of lettuce or tomato), it’s so good you’ll rush to scoop it up :)
I never thought I’d love a chicken sandwich this much, but this one? It’s on another level.
And a big shoutout to Sean, the owner, who brings so much heart and soul to this place. His consistency and passion shine through every bite. It’s rare to find a spot that still nails it years later, and this place does just that.

Get cobb salad. Simple ingredients and tasty. I have done take out quite a few times. Only open during weekday, so hard to visit unless taking a day off, but worth the visit. Latte was good too.
