The bartender Ben is amazing; I’ve been coming here for over three years and every time I visit is an absolute treat. Great drinks, great atmosphere, GREAT PICKLES! 12/10.

The bartender Ben is the highlight of this place. He is so friendly, has the best recommendations, and makes this place ten times better. I will be coming back every time I visit Toronto just for Ben. I will miss you when I return to halifax.

I spent a nice few hours here this evening and really enjoyed my beers, the cozy vibe, and the food. However, when I politely asked to try a taste of a new beer (after having already bought two, so it’s not like I was freeloading), I was cut off mid-sentence and told that it was their policy not to offer samples. This seems stingy and antithetical to running a beer bar, and I hope they’ll reconsider what seems like a misguided and unfriendly policy.

Food was very low budget. I ordered chicken pate that was only 2 crostini for 7 dollars I also had a Cesar salad. there was about 50 croutons and very little actual lettuce, the parm was from a bag and not shaved fresh. There was so much sauce and cheep cheese it was nauseating. They also advertised fresh pancheta on the salad. It was not pieces it was crumbled like cheep bacon bits that were cold and very greasy . Also the lettuce was not clean. It tasted like a dirty grocery store.for $18 My wife ordered a pizza with provolone and mushrooms. Horrible, there was not a drop of provolone, reg mozzarella sadly. And the mushrooms were from a can. Wet and sloppy. The only thing that was good was the beer. I have a great problem with being deceived at a restaurant. Lying about your foood quality and ingredients is shameful. People are more aware than you think. Spending that kind of money for something I wouldn't even eat at home. Coming to a restaurant to have a meal that you can't have at home. Not sure we're the reviews are coming from. You couldn't pay me enough money in the world to eat there again.

shoutout to the cooks who did an incredible job with the food on june 6! it was truly fantastic. bar service was kinda mid, but the food came so fast and that made up for it. drinks are just fine too. i love the dark atmosphere and surprised at how spacious it was. average downtown toronto prices.

I came in with my husband waited 20 min to get a drink meanwhile there was not a lot of guests in there. My husband had to go to the bar twice to ask for our drinks and when we finally received it the bartender Tim asked us to pay immediately meanwhile no one else had to pay. Before we could ask for anything else he insisted us to pay per drink and refused give us any time due to him standing over our shoulder and tapping his feet. As I person in this industry I have never seen this type of behavior. My husband tried to talk to him to give him the money and he walked away ignoring him. He spoke to my husband as if he did not know any English and disrespected him. I refuse to ever come back here . Regardless of this employees behavior we still tipped him above what he should receive. Best regards

Volo is one of the best places in the city to get beer. They even have cantillion on tap here. I have been a number of times, and the service and drinks have been great here every time. I also came here a few times on zwanze day which was an experience totally worth having. Love drinking beer at volo
