The bartender Ben is the highlight of this place. He is so friendly, has the best recommendations, and makes this place ten times better. I will be coming back every time I visit Toronto just for Ben. I will miss you when I return to halifax.
I spent a nice few hours here this evening and really enjoyed my beers, the cozy vibe, and the food. However, when I politely asked to try a taste of a new beer (after having already bought two, so it’s not like I was freeloading), I was cut off mid-sentence and told that it was their policy not to offer samples. This seems stingy and antithetical to running a beer bar, and I hope they’ll reconsider what seems like a misguided and unfriendly policy.
shoutout to the cooks who did an incredible job with the food on june 6! it was truly fantastic. bar service was kinda mid, but the food came so fast and that made up for it. drinks are just fine too. i love the dark atmosphere and surprised at how spacious it was. average downtown toronto prices.
