Amazing food and staff đ
The beef and chicken at this restaurant are halal, but this is not communicated anywhere on the menu or on the website. After eating here for years I was very upset to learn that I had unwittingly been eating food that I prefer to avoid due to religious and ethical reasons. Accurate food/menu labeling is a bare minimum requirement that is supposed to allow people to make informed decisions about what they eat and buy. Omitting information like this from the menu is a huge breach of trust so unfortunately I will no longer be eating here.
Came here based on a friendâs recommendation. Breakwall was great! We were seated so quickly and the waitress who helped us , gave us great recommendations for our group of 5. We got the platter to share and a salad which was more than enough. The brisket was delicious and all the sides were great. Will definitely be back if in the area
I have been eating here for years and really enjoyed the food until now. They do not plainly say on the menu that some meats are halal. As a person who avoids halal meats for ethical and religious reasons I am quite appalled that I have been covertly served food that goes against my conscience. This should be plainly listed on menus. I would have never eaten here if it was.
Today I visited this place for the first time while walking nearby with my child. The smell of grilled meat caught our attention, and my child really wanted something smoky like shashlik. I asked if they had anything like that, and the staff recommended the beef steak, saying it was tender and had a smoky flavour. I also ordered the pork for my child, which was also supposed to be smoky.
When the food arrived, the beef was indeed tender, but it was completely burned around the edges. I had to peel off the blackened layer. There were only two very small pieces of meat, and half the plate was just fat, which I donât eat. The meat was soft, yes, but had absolutely no smoky aroma at all. I smelled it multiple times, trying to find that BBQ scent, but there was nothingâit felt like it was just steamed in the oven. I was disappointed.
My childâs pork had a slight smoky smell, but still very weakânot like real BBQ that has a rich, delicious aroma.
When the waitress asked if everything was okay, I just said âokay,â but when I paid the bill, I told her honestly that I liked the Greek salad, but the meat didnât have any smoky flavour, which was disappointing. I said it kindly, just as small feedback. She didnât respond. I explained, âItâs just my little feedback,â and then she replied that the meat had been slow-cooked for hours in the oven. But what was I supposed to say to that? That it must smell smoky because of that? Iâm simply being honestâit didnât smell smoky at all.
This makes me wonderâwhen you ask customers if everything was okay, do you actually want to hear their answer, or are you just being polite? If youâre not open to honest feedback, maybe donât ask. I speak with respect, calmly and kindly. But I believe in giving real feedback when asked.
I still paid and left an 18% tip, which I thought was fair. But maybe it wasnât enough, because I received an unfriendly look and not even a simple âgoodbyeâ or âhave a nice day.â Meanwhile, the tables next to meâother customers who seemed localâwere warmly thanked and wished a good day. If no one got a goodbye, I wouldnât mention it. But everyone else did, except me.
So it feels like the service depends on how much you tip or how satisfied you are. But if you work in hospitality, please treat every guest with the same respect, not only those who praise everything or leave large tips. Everyone deserves basic kindness.
Thank you for reading this.
Juicy juicy briskets!
Fun place to watch games with friends.
Great staff.
Four of us went here for dinner on Canada Day, and we got lucky and were able to get a patio table within a few minutes. My wife has celiac disease and is very sensitive to cross contamination. Our server, Teela, I think? I probably have that wrong, but she seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and our safety concerns, and took care into making sure our needs were met. We ended up getting the big boy platter to share at the table, minus the gluteny things, and it was extremely satisfying.
We will definitely be coming back.
This is the greatest bar ever. Also wings are best I ever had.
Sausage can be much better, cornbread on the side of the indecisive platter but other than that everything is awesome and i suggest it đ
Not sure how I've never bothered to leave a review here before but I guess I hadn't gotten around to it. Anyways, here goes. This is the best bar in the beaches, period! There's really only a few bars down on Queen here that are open late and actually lively. Of those 3-4 Breakwall is easily the best.
The food is great, specifically the BBQ. Most importantly it's extremely consistent! Cranking out slow cooked BBQ, at the volume they're often seeing here and having it come out this consistent is no small feat. These guys nail it again and again.
The atmosphere is comfortable, it's a lot of people's "second home." Music is curated by the staff, not generic stations/playlists (heavy Gen X/Millenial nostalgia). The servers are all really personable and great at what they do.
In short, this is easily the best bar in the beaches, one of the best in the whole east-end-downtown and I can't recommend it enough!!

Breakwall BBQ & Smokehouse is definitely a thumbs Up. đ! Nice place to go for a fun tasty date and flexibility to bring entire family. I recommend a party of four if ordering the sampler platter. It's humongous and I included video showing the stacking of all the food. Nice music, excellent atmosphere, very friendly vibes. Im looking forward to going back for sure. Great to experience authentic BBQ smoked meat!

Delicious stick to your ribs barbeque. The staff were super helpful with helping me choose gluten free options and many things on the menu were able to be made gluten free. Perfect portion sizes, I had the brisket plate and my mom had the beef stew and we both left feeling happy and full.

I had the pleasure of experiencing Breakwall last Friday before attending a show at History nearby, and wow was I amazed! We tried the smaller meat platter, and canât even begin to explain the level of satisfaction and joyâŠnot to mention the service was out of this world amazing. I will be making it a point of coming back and introducing Breakwall to more people to try the larger meat platter, and have already been telling friends and family about our amazing experience. A special thanks to our server for making the experience extra special, she really helped to make our visit that much more memorable.
