I've always wanted to try this place because it's been here for years and I miss Chinese food. I ordered the general tso's, mixed mushroom and tofu chow mein, two spring rolls, and steamed rice.

The general tao's are literally like chicken balls. I thought they were and that there was mistake, but then I noticed a few spicy peppers which made me realize it wasn't a mistake...

The chow mein is so bland and tofu not great. I paid $50 for this meal hoping I'd enjoy it and have enough for leftovers... Instead I'll be throwing it out.

I will not be going to the restaurant or getting delivery from here again.

It's a small vegan restaurant in Chinatown. But it's value of money, foods are fresh & delicious with good portions..

I’ve been coming to this place for 20+ years since I was a kid. Nothing but great food HOWEVER I just ordered the General Tao which is my favourite dish from this place (have had it a minimum 30 times over the years) and there is NO SAUCE ANYMORE! You have to change this back please. The dish needs to be full of sauce on the bottom or it is just not the same. Hoping this is just a one off…

Update almost a year later: this place has been going downhill every time I order. The assorted gluten is tasteless and dry. Again the general tao has almost no sauce now. I don’t understand what’s happened to this place. Been coming here since I was a child (I am 30+). Very disappointing…

Have loved this place for years. The food is awesome and the staff are great. I recommend the imitation duck - I get it every time I come here.

First ordered the Kung pao soy chicken was good but lacked flavour slightly, but good enough to try something else from there. Next ordered the imitation duck chow mein which was bland and tasteless Updated from previous review on 2025-10-02

I picked Kung Pao chicken, rice and fried dumplings as an appetizer. Just like everyone else have said, it's a lot of food. After reading some of the reviews here the the top two that I was most interested in were Kung Pao and lemon chicken but since I wanted more crunch, I picked king Pao. Haven't try the dish before so I don't have anything to compare it to but I enjoyed it. Since a reviewer had said they didn't actively order noodle/rice, they didn't get any, I made sure to tell them. The fried dumplings where meh.

I ordered the mapo tofu with steamed rice and asked for a recommendation for something crispy which I can’t remember the name of. The mapo tofu was not as I have experienced before with mushrooms and chopped vegetables though still tasty. I would put this in the category of reasonably priced comfort food rather than wow food.

Worth the blazing hot walk from the Art Gallery of Ontario. Food was fantastic.

We dined at Buddha's Vegan Restaurant on a Thursday evening and it turned out to be quite busy (inside and take-out) so I was glad we made reservations in advance. We came prior on a Tuesday night and found out last minute that Tuesday is the only day that the restaurant is closed. The restaurant is super cozy inside and the staff are very attentive. The walls are covered with reviews, comments and experiences from prior customers and it was fun reading them. They have quite a few vegan items to select from their menu and all food items that we ordered were super flavourful. We ordered their Bean Curd Sheet (Imitation Duck), Hot and Sour Soup, Soy Steak and Vegetables Chow Mein, Stir-Fried Green Beans with Soy Chip, Stir-Fried Veggie Shrimp with Lotus Root & Vegetable and Deep Fried King Mushroom with Pepper Salt. Of the items we ordered, I enjoyed their Hot and Sour Soup as well as their Soy Steak and Vegetables Chow Mein quite a bit. The Deep Fried King Mushroom with Pepper and Salt was a fun dish as it came out looking like drumsticks. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here and will be back to try some of their other items on the menu that we didn't get to try.

I saw their score and decided to try this place. When we got here, there was a lot of writing on the walls from previous guests. It seemed like it was from a time long gone (before social), but there were very recent dates as well.

The anticipation was now building, and I didn’t think they would be able to live up to the hype on the walls. I was wrong. The food here is AMAZING.

Do yourself a favour and check this place out. Your stomach will thank you for it. Not only is the food great, the portions are very good. Excellent value.

(Don’t mind the fact that the building is a bit old and it’s not a “fancy” place).
