We were in the ares so stopped to pick up a couple of items at Bunners. When we got back to our hotel the filling from the butter tart was so loose it had leaked out into the box which was really disappointing. The cinnamon bun was good and I appreciate that you could get a baby size bun. We would definitely try them again if we are ever in the area. Updated from previous review on 2025-11-30

This bakery shocked me in the best way. I’m honestly surprised the reviews aren’t stronger, because the desserts are fantastic. I’ve tried the vanilla cupcake, the red velvet cupcake, the brownie, and the cinnamon bun. All hits. The brownie is the one I keep thinking about…

It’s a grab-and-go spot, no seating, which might explain some of the lower reviews. And the staff is hit or miss. The first time I went in, the woman working was great. Good energy, good vibe. The next two times, not so much. Nothing rude, just no spark for someone working in a bakery!

Still, the desserts are legit. If you want quality vegan sweets, this place is it.

This is my go to gluten free bakery in Toronto💕 Love how friendly the staff are and of course how great the bake goods are. Got a couple of Christmas treats to test and already writing down the ones I’ll come back for to share with family this Christmas. Definitely worth every penny!!

Bunner’s Bakeshop is honestly such a gem! I love that everything here is gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free it’s such a relief knowing you don’t have to double-check or worry about what’s in your food. The staff are always so kind and welcoming, and you can really tell they care about what they do. Everything I’ve tried has been super good fresh, flavourful, and made with love. Definitely one of my favourite spots for a treat I can actually feel good about!

This is a good place to stop in for especially to take out and walk around the Kensington market or bringing home or for a gift.
Place is clean and products are properly merchandised without any cross contamination.
Products are tasty but a little on the pricy side.
Overall for the gluten free audience this is a great place. If you don’t need their specific food requirements it would make more sense to try alternatives.

Bunner's is the go to for the vegan members of our family. It is has become a tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also anytime we are in Kensington. The staff is great. The sweet and savory are both fantastic.

I was visiting Toronto and looking for some gluten free quick breakfast options. My friend recommended Bunner’s. I bought the blueberry oatmeal muffin and jalapeño scone. Both items were delicious with a great texture and flavour. I was amazed that they kept so well which is not always the case for gluten free baked goods. I didn’t even need to heat them up but they were still perfect on day 2 for the muffin and day 3 for the scone! I look forward to returning next time I am in Toronto.

I've gone here a few times. The pastry/cake parts are good, but the icing is consistently sickeningly sweet. I love sweets but it's too much for me. I also find the service to not be the best- the servers are kind of pretentious.

So happy to find a vegan bakery with super tasty muffins and such friendly service! As a vegan, it’s rare to find good muffins, so this place really made my day. Hopefully, we’ll see more vegan spots and stores like this soon!

I ordered a Bunner’s Funfetti cake to celebrate the 40th birthdays of my elementary school classmates and it was a big hit. It looked fantastic displayed on our table at Scooter’s Roller Palace and it tasted great! The quintessential birthday cake. 👌 You wouldn’t have known that it was vegan and gluten free, but I was so pleased to be able to offer a piece to someone else at Scooter’s with Celiac disease. For that reason, I think it’s a great, inclusive choice for birthday parties. Delivery to East York was super convenient and I also ordered some items off of their Thanksgiving menu that could be stored in the freezer… so, I owe you and update in mid-October. 🍂
