We came here for dinner on a Friday night and got a table without reservation. The service was attentive with water refills. However, the wait for the drinks and food was very long (drinks >20 min & food >1h). There were no appetizers provided to bridge this time. Curries are pricier than elsewhere and when ordering we learned that they do not come with any rice or bread, but that this has to be payed for and ordered separately. The presentation of our dishes was classic and the taste ok, but lacking in spices. The salted lassi was tasting off. It wasn’t a problem but it also had a lot of cumin which may not be for everyone.
Overall prices aren’t justified and would not return but go elsewhere.

First of all, I never want to disgrace any restaurant, but my experience at Aanch was disappointing. I’m genuinely puzzled how it has a 4.7-star rating and even made it onto the Michelin Guide when the food was awful. We ordered Paneer Butter Masala and Dilliwala Butter Chicken, each priced at $24.99, along with Tandoori Roti, Plain Naan, and Garlic Naan—one of each. Unfortunately, both of the main dishes had a sour gravy, and the paneer and chicken were so tough, it felt like we were chewing rubber.

We informed the staff about the issue, and the manager, who was respectful, insisted we give it another try. However, the second attempt still didn’t meet expectations. Despite the poor food, the manager didn’t charge us for the chicken and paneer, which was a nice gesture.

This place seems to be overhyped due to its rating. I’d suggest you think twice before visiting, as the experience might not live up to expectations.

We visited Aanch Restaurant for a post-Diwali dinner, and it was a fantastic experience!

I ordered:

- Rose Lassi - Super thick and delicious; just the right balance of sweetness. (11/10)
- Paan Licious Drink - Beautifully presented and perfectly strong. (10/10)
- Basil Paneer Tikka - The paneer was definitely made in-house, incredibly soft and marinated to perfection before being cooked in the tandoor. (11/10)
- Papad Chaat - A unique twist on a classic. (7/10)
- Badal Jaam Bruschetta - Very different and flavorful. (7/10)
- Kadhai Paneer with Chilli Naan - The highlight of the night! We requested an 8/10 spice level, and they delivered INDIA-LEVEL spice. Truly authentic and delicious! (100/10)

The authentic North Indian flavors were spot on, with spices that transported us back to India, not just the usual chilli flakes. Our non-vegetarian friends were seriously jealous; they admitted the veg food was outstanding—rare to find such quality here in Toronto.

The staff was attentive and welcoming, and they even surprised us with complimentary mango kulfi for Diwali! We also took biryani to-go, can’t wait to try it.

Highly recommend this place for its authentic North Indian flavors, attentive service, and memorable food experience. Will definitely be back!

Delicious and creative. The cocktails were all very novel — lighting things on fire, bubbled elderflower.

I recently went to By Aanch with friends to celebrate a birthday, but sadly, the experience was disappointing, especially because of the poor service. From the moment we arrived, it felt like the staff wasn’t attentive at all. We had to wait a long time for anyone to take our orders, and even after that, it took too long for our food to come out.

Throughout the meal, it was hard to get the staff’s attention for simple things like dish recommendations or additional items. It felt like they weren’t interested in making our experience enjoyable, which made the whole evening feel frustrating and unwelcoming.

The food was average at best, and certainly not enough to make up for the poor service. While the ambiance was nice, the staff’s lack of attention and care made the night disappointing. By Aanch could be a better spot for celebrations if they seriously improve their customer service.

Honestly the food was above expectations, especially when you are sceptical about trying an Indian restaurant outside India. We thoroughly enjoyed the pani puri .. lamb ghee roast..and the paan kulfi was great ? Will surely come back soon !
