The best of the best of the best veal sandwich in Toronto but this location only. It was the first and original one. This is a must go place. Veal + cheese + mushrooms + onions. Don’t trust the look of this place to make your choice. Just go!

I paid a tenner for the meatball sarni. In a world where inflation, cost of living and even existential dread are it seems co-conspirators in racketeering your wallet, this place will give you smiles for miles.

Been coming here for years and the whole family there is great. The sandwiches are huge and the veal is fried to order. Love eating it right when it comes out with a Brio. Other locations are good but you can't beat the original. If you know, you know.

Amazing sandwiches. I'm partial to the veal with some sweet peppers, medium spice has enough kick for me. Very big portions. Love that they have oragina to drink. A little messy so grab plenty of napkins.

The Contact Us on California's website doesn't work, so I'm posting my message written in/for that into this public review instead. My grandfather is in hospital, at the end of his life. He moved out of the GTA about 7 years ago after living there for 80 plus years. The one thing he's missed since moving is the food. Especially veal sandwiches from California's.Today, before going to visit him in the hospital in Campbellford, Ontario, I drove from Belleville to the Ajax location of your store just to buy him a veal sandwich. Of which I knew he'd maybe only be able to have a single bite in his current state. The Ajax location is on the "locations" page of your website, including in big letters at the top of the page stating "AJAX NOW OPEN!" Obviously you know where this is going.Imagine my surprise and disappointment to allocate approximately an extra 3 hours of driving today, just to pick up a sandwich for my dying grandfather, only to find out that the location has been closed and the business simply couldn't be bothered to update their website. That's so lame. It's 2 minutes worth of work to update the website so that it actually truly reflects your business. Maybe you'll be inspired to now and save somebody else the time and effort of going out of their way to go to an imaginary location that no longer exists. It's a pretty bad look for a business, yeah? The locations are correct on Google Maps apparently, just not on your actual website.Anyways, that's it.

Always has and will be the best California. Staff is amazing. Even when that place is packed they'll get you your order and your not gonna be waiting long.

Dirty. First time eating inside and was horrified after seeing droppings under the arcade games.

Childhood memories in addition to the best veal sandwich you will ever have truly makes this place one of the greatest in the city. If you haven't tried one yet what are you even doing with your life?

1st time ordering delivery from this establishment. Ordered 2 sandwiches and only one was delivered. Called the restaurant to complain - the rude female who answered said it was not their problem and hung up!WOW !!! What a great place to buy $20 sandwiches! NOT!Highly recommend San Franchesco over these crooks!

Important message to the manager: please educate the cashier person that delivery drivers don’t have to line up with customers for pickup. That’s what she said literally.I think you put the pick up sign on the side for a reason. For example I came and waited beside the pick up sign for long time and tried to talk to the cashier but she ignored me. Customers were keep coming and she insisted to take their orders all before even talk to me. The order was sitting there for the whole time and giving it to me will take few seconds. As a delivery driver we expect the pick up process to be smooth without making the place much more crowded.Waiting for long time is not good, delivery time will taking much longer, food will arrive much colder and resulting in bad rating for the drivers and restaurants.Thank you I will change to 5 stars when I see service improvement. Thank you
