The staff was the worst ever. So rude. Actually less than one star. Taro cake was not good, it was oily.

I used to come here once a week or more. But they are constantly cheating you with their calculations and returning less change than they should.

I think their practices are dishonest and should not be rewarded with repeat patronage.

Pastry is mediocre, customer service is AWFUL, at least from the one older lady with short hair that works there.

This bakery has the worst staff ever. The staff was rude, ignorant and lies without thinking. And the experience was horrible! When I was about to pay, the cashier said it was 9.90 and cash only. I didn’t bring cash and I told her that they should have cash-only signs up. Then she grabbed this small sign which was hidden behind a big statue indicated cash only, and she said there is sign outside as well. She also said i can E-transfer. So I apologize and said sorry I didn’t see the signs. And I entered the email and sent 9.90 for the e-transfer and I tried to show to her. She didn’t care to see the confirmation. I didn’t get email that it was deposited although I usually get the email right away. So she checked her phone and she didn’t receive the money. I said I know, I said usually I get email response right away too, but sometimes there are delays. But this lady just insisted that the e-transfer is always done RIGHT AWAY. She was accusing me of not sending the money, or sent to the wrong email address. Then I was still calm and said “I did send it, I understand you didn’t get it yet, but I’ve sent it, it’s out of my hands now”. Then I showed her the email address that I sent the money to, then instantly she said that’s not the email address. But I knew it can’t be wrong unless the email she gave me was wrong. I double checked the email she provided on a piece of card board, it was the same, and I told her that. Then she said read it wrong, she read somewhere else. Which I didn’t say anything, but I just felt she is dumb. So we were waiting, I asked my friend to get the car while I was waiting. I tried to cancel the e-transfer because I didn’t wanna wait anymore. But I couldn’t even cancel it. So later, I said again I sent it already, trying to show her in the history and it was sent to that email address. Then this lady called her boss, her boss also says she didn’t receive the money. I said I know, but I sent it already, sometimes there are delays. But again this lady just insisted that delays never happens, and that they always get the money right away. That really pissed me off. So I got frustrated and impatient. Because she was rude to me and basically accusing me of not sending it. One co-worker of her even agreed with me and said sometimes there are delays. But that lady just kept saying “no, it doesn’t happen, we always get it right away”. I know this cashier lady is just ignorant. I’m sure she doesn’t deal with e-transfer all the time as this bakery is in Chinatown and people always carries cash in Chinatown. But anyway, at the end my friend came in and said it’s ok just call the bank to cancel the e-transfer. So he paid $10 cash to her. Then I asked them what if they receive the money after? The lady still just said no it’s not gonna happen, which I didn’t bother to argue anymore. But other guys in the store just asked me to leave my email, and they would send money back if they receives it. Then I left and I checked everywhere outside, there was no signs say cash only at all. That lady just lies instantly, like when I showed her the email, she just instantly said the email was wrong without even looking at it. And earlier, she instantly said there are signs outside indicates cash only when I suggested that they should have signs outside. The overall experience was horrible! The food isn’t even that good, look at the egg tarts, they are so bad!

Lastly, 3 hours later, I received an email indicating that the money was deposited….i called them asking for refund. I still haven’t received refund after two days. I tried to call again, no one picks up

Tasteless, cash only and rude attitude. Stopped by to "try it out" and definitely ended up disappointed. At the beginning things looked really nice, but ended up getting to the counter to pay and is CASH ONLY and the lady is quite rude and will try to persuade you to buy more from her.

Luckily we got some donuts from a place nearby to compensate for these pastries who literally tasted to nothing.

Might as well use the oil they have to make some fries lol

The bread and pastries are not very fresh. The three or four kinds I bought are not delicious and are very oily. Even when you touch the bread during the selection process, your hands will be greasy. The store's attitude is very bad. Because my foreign friend's hands were oily after taking the bread and paying the bill, I asked in Chinese if there was "toilet paper" to wipe his hands. The lady at the counter was very rude and kept repeating that we didn't have "toilet paper", even though another kind gentleman After reminding her that there were paper towels behind the counter, she kept repeating that there was no "toilet paper." I may have used inappropriate non-Chinese Chinese terms, but I didn't need to be treated with such loud and rude remarks until I walked out of the door with my foreign friends. , still heard the lady complaining, which made us all feel very uncomfortable.

Food and baked goods are not good. Not fresh and not tasty. And definitely a bad experience here.
Bought a few pastries here, and the lady at the counter made us very uncomfortable. She was rude and tried to push us to buy more stuff just because we randomly asked what the baked goods were on the counter. After that, since the baked goods were oily, our hands had some oil left, so we asked if she could give us napkins to clean our hands. Just because I used an inappropriate word in Mandarin which means "tissue paper" instead of napkins, the lady was impatient and yelled, "We don't have tissue paper!!!". Even after I explained we just wanted something to remove all the oil left on our hands from touching the baked goods, she still rudely repeated the same words. Thanks there was a gentleman who realized at the very first second as we were asking and he pointed behind the lady there were the napkins, at the meantime the lady still kept saying "We don't have tissue!!" in Mandarin, and until we left the store I could still hear she's still complaining about us.

Even though it was our first time here, we were impressed by the fresh and authentic baked goods. Unfortunately we don't live in Toronto.

I have been coming here for years, and it's always a treat. Today, I grabbed some curry beef pastries and egg tarts for lunch. So delicious! It's the perfect spot for a quick and satisfying meal.

Racist, extremely rude and bad customer service.

I was told they only accept cash when I went to pay, which was not mentioned anywhere beforehand.

As I was attempting an e-transfer, I asked the front desk lady for the price because I had forgotten it. She replied with unnecessary hostility, saying, "Why do you keep asking me?" When I explained that I simply forgot, she said, "Why do you have such a bad memory?"."

As I struggled with the e-transfer process, she continued to be rude and unhelpful, saying, "Why can everyone else do it but you can’t?"
Her condescending attitude made an already frustrating situation worse.

What made the situation more difficult was the noticeable difference in how I was treated compared to the white customers around me. I felt that my treatment was racially biased because my service was far more hostile than what I expected.

I do not recommend this bakery based on my disappointing experience.
