Deserves all the hype, chill and fancy at the same time I think, I think a bit of education on your end on cocktails before a visit will go a long way and make your experience a ton betterIf you don't want a huge crowd u have to pick your time and you won't be sorryAdriana was a fantastic help in putting together the drinksWill be back many a times over ...

Adriana is the best,,, just tell her what u want, we tried a pine liquor and scotch, a whiskey sour with a twist and a mezcal drink,, all 3 were perfect

I wish it was possible to give 6 stars for service because Lin created hand crafted custom drinks after chatting with me about what I liked and created a wonderful vibe for the night. Her knowledge is unparalleled and she shared some absolute gold on the industry that showed she is possibly the most overqualified talented bartender in Canada. Full stop.

wow, what an incredible place this is! love the bespoke nature, there's no menu so you give your preferences and they will whip something up for you. my favourite was when i asked for something smoky with a bit of spice and they killed it, spot on! it is very busy though so beware, you may be at the waiting area (standing tables) before getting a seat.

One of the best bars I’ve ever been too. When you go, ask for Josh. Guy is BEYOND a pro. Great guy, AMAZING drinks, everything was incredible and it’s people like him that take great places to the next level of amazing.

Seemed like a cool small space. But it was very packed. Huge line outside waiting for tables because there is absolutely no standing room even though there is enough space to stand in other areas (not allowed to stand unless you're in the small area way in the back :/)I was meeting friends inside and got chased down asking where I was going. Hostess was very rudeWill not return. Was happy to spend my money elsewhere that night

Perhaps the accolades were warranted in the past for it to be an industry darling, but the standards that would make for a good bar, were severely lacking. The service was poor, perfunctory — a mix of green inexperience and disinterested awkwardness. We walked in 1-hour before closing on a Tuesday to see four people behind the bar and five patrons. When we were seated, after five minutes, the bartender informed us of the "no-menu" format. Our first experience here, our party was still taking in the information. However, in the same beat, they then expected us to answer them. Without any prompts or chat to engage, they just stared at us. We were still deciding among ourselves, but the bartender was noticeably irritated. They then asked me what we had been drinking earlier. My two guests were still deciding. I answered first: I had a couple of martinis before. I hadn't answered the bartender with a clear drink order or any other information, but they muttered, I'll just make you a martini and walked away.Bold move.A second bartender approached our party and took the last two orders. Mezcal - two separate offerings. Both missing something, an egg white maybe, or more thought and care altogether. When they came to do check backs, more than half-way done our drinks, they had lost us for us to want to meaningfully engage. We would have ordered a few more rounds, but decided one was enough. When we had already paid (one bill), another bartender was confused when we informed them that we had done so.Tipped 20%.

I went to Civil Liberties with a co-worker and was really disappointed by the service. I had ordered a couple of drinks and noticed a bug was in one of my drinks. So, I simply asked for a fresh drink. The bartender saw the bug and remade my drink only 1/3 full (less than what was in my original drink with the bug). I was shocked they would not make me a full drink, let alone charged me for it. I also was sitting at the bar and watched as the bartenders whispered about the situation and kept looking at me, which made it far more uncomfortable. The bartenders also appeared to have stopped serving us after this situation, so we inevitably asked for the bill and left. I had high hopes for this unique and interesting bar, but the service was terrible.

Recommend going a little bit earlier in the night, closer to when they open because it’s a very small space and they don’t do reservations. No set menu, just vibes and super talented bartenders. Drinks are incredibly affordable at about $15-ish each before tax.Try Kaz’s cucumber drink.

Unique cocktails.. they don’t have a menu, you just choose your spirit and let the bartender know what sort of drink you’re looking for, and leave it to them to create a unique cocktail. It’s a small place and very crowded at times.

There is a reason this is talked about as the best bar in Canada. It's lively and fun, the staff are top notch and the drinks are just amazing. Keep in mind, there is no cocktail menu, the bartenders are so talented they just ask you a few questions and make you something special. It's a treat and the few cocktails I've had have been exceptional

The place was packed as expected given the reviews. We got a seat right away though. Service was great and cocktail was nice. The sound was just very loud for us.
