Such a cute and cozy cafe at the Surrey Place. The staff were very kind and made me a delicious vanilla latte.
This business hires those with developmental disabilities and provides them training in a safe environment. I have Down Syndrome too, so happy to support this lovely cafe!

BEWARE! I used my card to pay for a drink and was asked to tip. The screen is out of reach and behind plexi. I said “Sure, $1.” The person pressed $2 and then said “Oops”. Instead of correcting it, I was asked to pay. I was shocked that they would do that. It makes me wonder how often this happens. My drink was already being made so I didn’t walk away. I don’t appreciate being taken advantage of. This is the kind of unscrupulous behaviour which makes other people not want to leave a tip at all!
Yes, it is “only” an extra dollar, but it is the PRINCIPLE. It is double the tip I wanted to pay and 35% which is ridiculous. I will never return and sad not to support this local business since I cannot trust them. The drink was fine.

Was surprisingly easy to find. I got the cortado and the milk was well-textured and they seemed to have been using beans with more chocolatey and caramelly mellow notes as opposed to brighter, acidic, and fruitier roasts I've had at some third wave cafes recently. Staff seemed pretty passionate and the atmosphere was lively during my visit.

Very nice coffee and great efforts to integrate people with disabilities to society. Very happy I found the place by accident and genuinely appreciated a well-pulled espresso and mocha latte!!! Highly recommended and we need to support the efforts.

This is a Co-op coffee shop run by a group of people with developmental disabilities (supported by Common ground co-op). They make great coffee and it was a really good customer experience - You should check it out!
Good coffee, and good scones. Plus I feel better doing business with a co-op. Will be back for sure.
