As authentic as you can get for north of the equator! Loved this place..had been meaning to try it for the birria tacos but fell in love with the mole! Definitely going back

Comal y Canela is always a hit. Me and my Mexican husband almost consider this place a staple here (especially in the north end of the city). Our faves are the quesibirria tacos and the birria flautas and the enchiladas (i love the suizas which are the green sauce ones). This is a halal joint which is great however don't come expecting to have chelas (beers) or any alcoholic beverages. Ever since they opened up their secondary dining section, I feel like everything has gotten even better than it was before. Keep up the amazing work Comal y Canela!

The cheese enchiladas were outstanding. The fresh cheese filling had just the right firmness and flavour, and the tortillas were delightful. I got the green salsa with it, which went wonderfully. Really, everything was very good. My partner couldn't get enough of the chips and kept asking for more, and liked one of the freely-available table sauces for the chips enough that she asked what kind it was so she could try to find it herself. She also reported that her tacos (three birria tacos) were fantastic, and she took home the remaining consomme and chips to have for lunch the next day. The consomme was good enough to stand on its own.

Some of the best Mexican food I've had in Toronto. The food is consistently delicious and flavourful. I've not had a dish I didn't like. Carnitas tacos and chicken al pastor sope are two of my favourites. Love this place.

This used to be the best Mexican spot I’d ever tried—better than Mexico itself. Sadly, success ruined it. The food and service have both declined. Dishes came out one by one with 10-minute gaps, the birria was cold and flavourless. No lime, onion, and cilantro on the table until I asked. My simple request for less cheese was ignored, and when I checked the computer, it wasn’t even sent to the kitchen. The server didn’t care. The guacamole portion is now a third of what it used to be, yet prices stayed the same. I paid nearly $70 for one quesadilla, three birria tacos, and guac. It’s disappointing to see how far it’s fallen after all the hard work the owners once put in. Don’t waste your money.

Really amazing the scenery was so authentic as well as the food and it was easily a 20/10 experience.
Comal y Canela is one of the best spots in the city for real Mexican comfort food. Everything tastes homemade, from the freshly made tortillas to the rich, flavorful stews. The birria is tender and full of depth, and the rice and beans are perfectly seasoned. The staff are friendly and the service feels personal, like you’re eating in someone’s kitchen. It’s authentic food made with love, and every bite reminds you why this place has such a loyal following.
