We went here on New Year’s Eve night to order a meal. The wait time was minimal and the food was fresh and tasty.

Food is good but takes a while to be made.

The service was poorly timed, as they served the milk pudding before the main meal. It lacked a fresh dairy taste, instead reminding me of milk powder with added flavor enhancers. The ribs were also a letdown; while the texture was okay, they had a noticeable pork smell (腥气) that wasn't properly masked. Overall, the ingredient quality just isn't there.

Congee Queen has become my go-to spot when I’m craving quality Chinese food in downtown Toronto.
It can definitely get busy, and they don’t take reservations for parties under five. That said, I walked in without a reservation this time and waited less than 10 minutes, which honestly isn’t bad at all given how popular this place is.
Service and ambience are pretty average—very much what you’d expect from a typical Chinese restaurant (iykyk). Nothing fancy, but efficient enough to get the job done.
Their food was delicious. I’ve been to this location more than 10 times over the past two years, and I’ve never left disappointed.
This visit, four of us ordered the ginger and green onion lobster, grouper fish with noodles, pork congee with century egg, and stir-fried udon noodles. Every single dish was excellent. The lobster was fragrant and well-balanced, the grouper was fresh and comforting with the noodles, the congee was smooth and flavorful, and the udon was perfectly stir-fried with great texture.
If you’re looking for dependable, high-quality Chinese food downtown, Congee Queen is a solid choice. It may not impress with decor or service, but the food more than makes up for it—and that’s what keeps me coming back

The Chinese food that the restaurant provided are hot and very delicious. Also, they are served in a very big size. They offer free drinks for afternoon tea as well. Good place for both local and tourists.

Everything is great but food has some fat to them and portions are little bigger than I can handle. Overall okay

Taste really bad, the tables are also crowded, u can’t even stretch ur legs and arms. If u wanna try some cantonese dishes there are tons of better choices.

One spoonful of their congee and you realize this isn’t rice soup, it’s a warm, savory hug in a bowl. The beef and fish congee is rich and deeply satisfying, with tender beef that tastes like it actually wanted to be there, while delicate, clean, and soothing enough to cure jet lag, heartbreak, or a questionable life choice. Then there’s the turnip cake, gloriously crispy on the outside and soft and savory inside, basically the Cantonese answer to why have one texture when you can have five. The room is always buzzing, the portions are generous, and the food shows up fast, as if the kitchen knows you’re already emotionally invested.

Love their freshly cooked food, authentic and tasty
As well as the services were always fairly good, the decor was modern and the most stylish among Cantonese restaurants in Toronto
However, avoid being seated in downstairs, the floor was greasy and slippery, that certainly will kill your appetite
Again, paying $220 for a meal, you’ll still have to pack your own leftovers, it’s a shame while waiters rather chat or stare at you by your table when you clumsily put food in the containers they brought.

U'll be very satisfied if u love the Cantonese style snacks, dimsum or lunch n dinner.

But no any parking on site but subway/TTC/Du Dundas Str. nearby.
Come n check out cheers.

The food was so good here! The portions were huge. The pumpkin congee that we ordered didn’t look like the picture in the menu but it tasted creamy, light and delicious. There are a lot of items to choose from in the menu and I want to go back soon!

I have been dining in and order take outs from CQ for quite a bit of times at various location. However, this time I was was very disappointing. I ordered the Empress Fried Rice which comes with tons of rice as usual but but not the seafood that suppose to go with it. The Crispy chicken is actually from scraps. If it is a whole chicken, there is no back pieces and one drum stick and thigh is missing. If it is half chicken, hw come it comes with 2 wings? When I asked for lemon wedges to go with my chicken, I was told it will cost me a dollar. What are CQ thinking I am making lemon tea with the tea served.
