A good concept thats not well executed
The food:
Tuna pani puri - good flavor but couldn’t taste the tuna.
Masala wings - definitely not “hakka” tasted like honey garlic with some spices. The chicken had a flavor of old frozen chicken
The samosa - great crisp and well filled. However the filling was mushy and didn’t taste the cheese curds
Garlic roomali roti - bland and no flavor
Stuffed paneer - the gravy lacked flavor and only tasted of masala and whatever thicker they used. The masala in the paneer tasted raw.
Peach shrikhand - loved the shrikhand however as a dish it was too heavy.
The Drinks:
Mango lassi - can’t go wrong and was good
Nimbu pani margarita - not a margarita and tasted slightly bitter.
Chai martini - pretty good
The service - our server was pretty good. Good attention to detail.
Atmosphere - really warm inside

We did the Blue Moon and Pepper experience. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish is well thought out as the heat rises in each dish until you try the lamb stuffed scotch bonnet. Though this is not their regular menu if this is what to expect from this restaurant we will definitely be back to try the regular menu. We loved everything. My husband tried the vegan menu and I the regular menu we ended up sharing everything because we couldn’t decide what was better. The beer Blue moon with a slice of orange dipped in cinnamon was the perfect complement to each dish. What a great experience. The staff and chefs were friendly and attentive. We ask if the patio is dog friendly and it is we will definitely be back on both accounts.

The food was such a great fusion of flavours. The green tomato butter chicken was fantastic and the take on gulab Jamin was nothing I’ve ever had before. Would come back again!

A Culinary Revolution Worth the Drive — Bold, Artistic, Unforgettable.
I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, initially drawn in by its intriguing name. A quick glance at the menu made it nearly impossible not to give it a try even though it meant a 45-minute drive. To avoid traffic and the dinner rush, I chose to visit on a Monday evening.
Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by someone I later discovered was the chef himself. The ambience and décor were refreshingly simple and soothing, nothing extravagant, but clearly intentional, creating the perfect backdrop for what was to come.
The menu felt almost revolutionary like a culinary Magna Carta. Every dish read like a declaration of independence from the ordinary. We began with cocktails, the Cucumber Colaba and Jaggery Old Fashioned, both subtle yet evocative, transporting me back to nostalgic flavors from my hometown.
We started our meal with the Tomato Salad with Paneer, boldly dressed in a robust tadka vinaigrette. It signaled, from the very first bite, that this chef is a creative risk-taker. The paneer was presented almost like a mousse light, modern, and sophisticated. It felt more at home in a downtown tasting menu than a traditional paneer.
Next came the Tuna Pani Puri, a stunning reinvention of the beloved street food. House-made puris, inscribed with squid ink, were stuffed with delicate yellowfin tuna, served alongside a tamarind-mint water concoction that was nothing short of heavenly. Each bite was vibrant, refreshing, and playfully complex.
Then came the Duck Confit Curry stirred with Foie Gras,an indulgent, luxurious dish that left a lasting impression. The side of bone marrow, lightly dusted with Goda Masala, added richness and depth, creating a moment of epicurean bliss that I won’t forget anytime soon.
Unable to resist, I ordered an additional side of Foie Gras, and it arrived lightly spiced with Malvani Masala. With each delicate bite, the phrase Hindavi Swaraj echoed in my head—it was evocative, powerful, and deeply satisfying. It felt like the spirit of Indian cuisine had been elevated without being diluted.
Final Stars
This is more than just a restaurant—it's a culinary laboratory, where tradition meets bold innovation. The chef is not just cooking; he's storytelling with flavor. Every dish carries risk, creativity, and a deep respect for the roots of Indian cuisine. It's the kind of place that redefines what modern Indian food can be.
Worth the drive. Worth the detour. Worth every bite.

Did the chefs selection. Came with Yellowfin Tuna Tartare Pani Puri, Canadian oysters chaat, pork belly + lentil appam, spiced heirloom tomato salad + whipped paneer salad, ghee confit duck curry + foie gras curry, pork vindaloo (off menu), and Screech Rum soaked gulab jamun.
Really enjoyed everything, especially the oysters, pork belly + lentil appam, spiced heirloom and whipped paneer salad, pork vindaloo.
Came out to $185 after tax.
Forgot to take pics. Only got the dessert 😅

I don’t recommend booking an event at this restaurant for several reasons.
Although staff or the owner will not tell you at the time of booking the deposit they charge you is nonrefundable. If you need to cancel a booking, even well in advance of the date of the booking , they will not provide you with a refund or a gift card in the amount of the deposit paid.
Staff are abrupt in their email communication and the owner has difficulty admitting his mistakes and correcting them.
Overall, a very bad impression with Curryish Tavern, with the service I received, and the dishonesty and disrespect I was treated with.
I cannot personally comment on the food or the environment as I have never visited the restaurant in person. However, I’ve heard from people in my family that the food is quite good.
In early May 2025, I booked for a post wedding family brunch lasting three hours and taking place at the end of October. The restaurant sent me an invoice for a $500 deposit which I e-transferred the next day.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel the reservation more than six weeks in advance of the booking.
This is when I was informed that the deposit is nonrefundable, and when I requested a gift card in the amount of the deposit, the owner declined.
There are a lot of other restaurants in Toronto with excellent food and service where you could reserve for 30 people for brunch, where policies are made clear and when unfortunate events arise, and a cancellation needs to be made, patrons are cheerfully and respectfully compensated.

My experiences at Curryish have been a mix of great highs and a few areas for improvement.
The dining room is consistently impressive, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The service is also excellent; the staff are attentive and quick to respond, which significantly enhances the dining experience.
On my last visit, I tried the Maple Hakka Chicken Wings. The flavour was fantastic, with a perfect balance of ginger, soy sauce, green chilies, and scallions, plus subtle notes of caraway and star anise. They were perfectly crispy and delicious. For a dish that's eaten by hand, offering a finger bowl with warm water and a lemon slice or a moist towel would be a great touch to elevate the experience.
For the main course, the Green Tomato Butter Chicken had a wonderful, creamy texture and incredibly tender chicken. The flavour was good, but I felt it could use a bit more salt and heat to truly make it shine.
Overall, I had a good experience. The food is flavourful and the service is excellent. My only minor critique is that the bathrooms could be cleaner. With a few small adjustments, Curryish has the potential to be a truly outstanding dining destination.

An incredible meal!! The dinner our group of 4 had was fantastic and full of flavour. We ordered the green butter chicken, chicken masala, lamb shoulder and stuffed eggplant and each dish was delicious. The appetizers were amazing and we had a great time being walked through the menu and choosing what to have. Perfect for any group size looking to try Indian food with a modern twist!

We absolutely loved this spot! From the music to the service—and of course the food—everything was wonderful. We tried the samosa eggs benny and the uttapam with pork, and both dishes were outstanding. The flavors and textures stayed true to their roots while still feeling fresh, creative, and fun. We’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a memorable meal!

Curryish Tavern is a must-visit if you love curry! Started with the wings—huge portion, crispy and well done, though a bit salty. For my main, I had the beef cheek curry—unbelievably tender, and the added bone marrow took it to another level. A side of basmati rice was perfect to soak up every bit of that rich curry.
Couldn’t resist dessert after seeing it at a nearby table: puff pastry with sweetened yogurt and poached peaches, with cardamom notes that were perfection. Service was attentive and friendly the whole time. Creative, flavourful, and satisfying from start to finish.

Highly recommended, a bit of drive from downtown but worth it. Summer was warm since they don't have air conditioning but large standing fans to circulate air but the menu (we chose Chefs selection) and the quality of food and the names in the menu would be talked about well after the meal was over
