Don Alfonso 1890 is nothing short of a world-class dining experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant’s design is simply breathtaking, setting the perfect stage for an unforgettable meal. Celebrating our 1-year anniversary in Toronto, we wanted something truly exceptional, and DA1890 delivered in every possible way.
Each dish was a masterpiece, seamlessly blending Canadian and Italian flavors with an artistic touch that made every course feel like a performance. The attention to detail in presentation, texture, and balance of flavors was outstanding—this is fine dining at its peak.
That said, one element that felt slightly off was the music selection. While some may find it nostalgic, hearing Endless Love by Lionel Richie, We Are Family by Sister Sledge, and You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban in such a refined setting didn’t quite match the ambiance. A more modern, sophisticated playlist would further elevate the experience. Additionally, a small but thoughtful touch—like offering a hot, wet towel before the meal—would add another layer of luxury and attention to detail.
Overall, Don Alfonso 1890 is an absolute must for food lovers seeking a truly elevated culinary journey. The precision, passion, and creativity behind each dish make it clear why this restaurant has earned its stellar reputation. A dining experience that lingers long after the last bite!
Kid-friendliness: No. This is not kid friendly in any way.

Don Alfonso’s has been a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time, and it did not disappoint.
Service was as good as it gets. Both friendly and professional they did not skip a beat. Food came out quickly and was described beautifully.
We opted for the original tasting menu and found that the verity, quantity and portions were all perfect. No dish was “too much” and continued to get better and better until the final dessert.
I would highly recommend going for the tasting menu as it gave a great opportunity to really explore what Don Alfonso’s has to offer.
Can’t recommend enough.

I just finished one of the more expensive meals I’ve had—over $1200 CAD for two people—at Don Alfonso 1890 in Toronto, and honestly, it was just alright. For a one-star Michelin restaurant, I was expecting more.
We went with the $225 signature tasting menu, and while the food was fine, there weren’t really any standout dishes. The $200 premium wine pairing was probably the highlight—we got to try some interesting wines we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.
What really left a bad taste, though, was being told the Prosecco was complimentary, only to be charged $8 CAD for each glass. If you’re going to charge for it, don’t say it’s complimentary.
It was a foggy night so the view was not great either.
All in all, I wouldn’t come back.

I don’t even have the words to describe how impeccable the experience was from start to finish. The knowledge and explanation of all of the lines from their Michelin awarded Somalia was just the beginning. Each, and every dish was over the top, perfectly balanced in a delight to look at. I would come here 1000 times over. And the views were breathtaking.
Dietary restrictions: They were so careful about my allergies. It was very refreshing.

Exceptional service, food and atmosphere. Lovely view of the city, our server was helpful in selecting dishes (did ala carte). Food options had a good balance of classic high end tastes and some more unique and experiential dishes. It was my friends birthday and staff went above and beyond to make sure she felt special. Thank you so so much! Truly a wonderful evening on all fronts.

A must-go! Has to be my favourite restaurant in Toronto of all time.
The elevator ride up to the restaurant was stunning, with a lovely view as you’re going up. Upon arrival, you are greeted with friendly hosts.
The restaurant itself felt open and bright. We did not feel like we were crammed in a restaurant, feeling like another number in line.
The servers are top-notch. Has to be the best fine dining service I’ve ever had in Toronto, with servers making you feel like VIPs. Other Michelin-star restaurants can learn a thing or 2 on customer service from servers at this restaurant.
We were seated right by the window. The view was simply captivating, especially at sunset hours, with the view switching from light to night.
Finally, the food were all first-rate and impressive. Presentation is stunning and savory. Food was tasty and enjoyable, even for my 8-year old. Since we came for our anniversary, the restaurant made quite the lovely effort acknowledging our celebrations through deserts and some keepsakes.
Just writing this review makes me want to make another reservation. If I could treat myself at this restaurant every special occasion, there’s no doubt you’d find me here.

From the moment we walked in, it was clear we were in for something truly special. The atmosphere was refined yet warm, with the glittering city lights providing a breathtaking backdrop that set the tone for an elevated dining experience. Every detail—from the subtle lighting to the thoughtfully curated music—contributed to a relaxed yet sophisticated ambience.
The service was nothing short of exceptional. Our server Amanda, was not only attentive but incredibly knowledgeable about every dish, offering thoughtful insights that deepened our appreciation for each course. Multiple staff members delivered our plates throughout the evening, and each one took the time to beautifully explain the elements of the dish they were presenting. Their passion and pride were evident, and it made every course feel like a story being told.
The sommelier was a standout—graciously pouring and explaining each wine pairing with clarity and enthusiasm. Every pairing elevated the dish it accompanied, and it was clear that great care and expertise went into curating each match. The experience was made even more impressive by the bartender, who took on a challenging cocktail request with creativity and precision. He not only crafted something outstanding, but came to our table to explain the mixology and ensure it hit the mark.
A truly memorable moment was when the chef personally came to our table to check in and ask about our experience. That gesture—so genuine and humble—spoke volumes about the heart and integrity behind the cuisine.
And the food... exquisite. Each plate was a work of art, bursting with balanced flavors, thoughtful textures, and creative flair. It was a journey of taste and presentation from beginning to end.
As a thoughtful touch, a lovely and personalized birthday gift was presented to my husband—an unexpected and heartwarming gesture that capped off the evening beautifully.
This was more than a dinner; it was a full-sensory experience that blended hospitality, artistry, and care in every moment. We left feeling deeply satisfied and incredibly grateful. We’ll be talking about this night for a long time.

The service was amazing, the sommelier was giving recommendations in Spanish and English, they took us on a tour through the restaurant, part of the kitchen where they set up the plates and explained the art pieces that have in place, and the food was delicious and each plate was better than the previous one, it was a round experience.

This place is fantastic.
The sommelier Felipe, the hostess Micaela, the Chef, Fernanda (actually I want to say THANK YOU, you were beyond the services and exceeded my expectations).
Everybody is attentive. And worry about a higher quality service.
The washroom counts with the last technology.
The view is amazing. I was lucky to enjoy the city from the afternoon till early night.
In general it was such a lovely culinary experience. With a three times menu. The explained every detail about each dish.
I told Fernanda about my sister's birthday and she sent a lovely surprise at the very end of our stay.

Great dining experience. Only thing that could have improved is if they fixed the rotating floor like it used to be!
