I recently dined here with a group of four for a birthday dinner. Overall, the food itself was excellent — really vibrant flavours, well-balanced spice, and beautifully presented dishes. You can tell there’s care put into the cooking, and everything we tried tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We all really enjoyed the duck confit leg.
That said, the value just didn’t match the quality. After sharing several dishes (5 to be exact), the bill came out to about $50 per person, which felt steep considering the portion sizes. Unfortunately, despite spending that much, we actually left the restaurant still hungry. $21 for a glass of white (la grande ourse) when a bottle itself in retail costs around $40 is diabolical.
If you’re going for flavour alone, it’s a great spot. But for the price point, I was expecting more generous portions or a more filling experience. Delicious food — just not the best value for a group dinner.

Dinner and service was very good - probably 4.5 stars overall. The one failing was the wine - the Pinot Noir was very good however it was chilled to about 30-35 degrees. I should have refused it but it was half price wine night so I thought if we let it sit for a while it would warm up - took about 30 minutes before it was drinkable. They need to learn how to chill red wine if they want to retain their Michelin distinction.

Can't say it was anything too special. I do love thai food but I feel as if their twist on things mixes flavours that don't compliment each other well.
I was not a fan of the duck; the slow roasting left it with a weird texture.
Overall a decent experience, but overpriced for what you get. Ambiance is a bit stifled.

I went here for Valentine’s Day and it was very good at first when entering. But the servers were rushing our table along with others during our two hour reservations. The food was a set list and it was very average. We did a drink pairing which was very underwhelming as well didn’t add to the meal. The price was not worth the experience here.

4 stars for the food but 2 stars for the ambiance.
FOOD:
• Oysters: oysters with a twist of south east asian flavor. Cilantro and roasted garlic was an idea that really surprised me.
• Confit Duck leg curry: the curry was great but the duck meat is a bit dry.
SERVICE: standard
VIBE: I was there in a summer day, and it feels really hot as the whole restaurant is open concept. I did not appreciate at all when I choose to sit inside but still feel like sitting in the patio in a hot day.
Kitchen was totally open, making the place mixed with whole bunch of different smell that some don't belong with each other.
The place is noisy and doesn't give a vibe that make me willing to pay that much for my meal. It giving me a house party vibe and I'm in someone's kitchen.
Food was good but wasn't up to that pricing. And overall the ambiance destroyed my experience eating there.

We arrived late in the night with no reservations. The hostess was very welcoming and had a communal table available right away.
The service was impeccable- quick, attentive and very friendly. Also very knowledgeable of the menu.
The food was delicious!

Really enjoyed this place. I would recommend the tasting menu: $100 per person. You get about 10 dishes (very generous portions), even had some leftovers! The service was fantastic.

This review is in reference to the collaboration dinner with and at gateau ghost hence why I didn’t give a rating for atmosphere.
Oyster: delicious bite. Salty, sweet from the palm sugar, fragrant coriander and shallots, no notes. I plan on dressing oysters like this in the future at home. So good!
Hokkaido scallops: I’ll start off the the good. The flavours were strong and I loved the space. The shrimp paste was so delicious and added such a unique savoury element to the dish. The crunch bits of fruit also added great texture. Now I don’t feel like the scallops were the star of the show and that’s where I feel like the dish fell a bit short. If you’re going to use imported Hokkaido scallops then they should stand out but they kind of fell into the background. We were also a seating of two but received three leaves/wraps. It would have made more sense to have four leaves or a shareable number. The leaves were also lacking in flavour, maybe shiso would have been a good choice. But nothing was terrible and tooo away from the dish, I simply wanted more bites.
Fish curry: again I’ll start with the positives. The curry itself was spicy and comforting. The fish was cooked really well and I loved the blistered skin. We finished the whole bowl and were even offered more by the chef behind the counter which was so nice. He explained that this was a northern style curry, hence its departure from the more well known coconut milk curries. The dish was served in a bowl but we were given sharing plates which didn’t really work. I ended up just using the rice bowl bc the broth would just run off the plate. I also think the fish could have been better seasoned. The veggies in the curry were also prepared separately (blanched) so they were pretty bland. I would have liked for the veggies to be cooked in the broth but it was fine. The curry itself was so strong in flavour that it carried the rest of the dish.
Dessert: :( unfortunately we didn’t like this one. Not enough coconut flavour, no burnt/char flavour and the crisps/bark didn’t taste like sesame either. Everything was just a little off the mark.
Overall the Thai favourites dishes overshadowed the gateau ghost dishes by farrrr. My review for gateau ghost is on their Google as well. Will definitely be coming to Thai favourites for dinner. Thanks!

2nd time visiting this place and it hasn’t disappointed! The last time in my wife and I ordered the rustic curry mussels, the lamb chops, the cha siu short ribs, and the black cod sour curry. The mussels and lamb chops were both of our favorites. I probably wouldn’t order the short ribs again. They were good but I wanted to be blown away for $66. From our first visit, I recall the chicken wings and the confit duck leg curry being all-stars! This place is a must visit in Toronto. We will continue to come back!
