They were playing J Cole and JPEGmafia while we ate a fantastic pizza and highkey magic mushrooms. Thanks Ozzy for the great service!
Went on Saturday.
The cesar salad, calzone, vodka pasta and the incredible tiramisu were good.
We also got great service by the nice Colombian server.
A must try and add to your “list” the magic mushrooms are a must order and everything here is amazing enjoy….
Great staple in the St. Clair west neighbourhood. One of the few places where you can get an app, two mains, and dessert for under $100 (after tax & tip). The service is friendly and the generous portions of food come out quick. The grilled calamari was perfect. The seafood pasta had everything I wanted and just the right amount of heat. If I had any critique, it would be that I would want a higher ratio of meat sauce to noodle in the lasagna — but the lasagna was still chef’s kiss. Highly recommend!
I've loved ferro for years, always such a great meal and quality service. I highly suggest the magic mushrooms!
Be warned, I was given negative feedback from friends about this place yet decided to give it a chance. Underwhelming food, nauseating buffalo moz, pompous staff which likely has something to do with management. Save your $ go elsewhere, don’t be fooled by the owner replies here, I see some 1 star reviews that have gone completely unaddressed. Testament to how much their customers matter to them
Ferro – A Disappointing Decline in the Heart of a Food-Loving City
As a local who's visited Ferro multiple times over the years, I can say with confidence that the experience has gone steadily downhill — and this most recent visit was by far the worst.
We started the evening with a simple drink order: a tequila soda and a glass of red wine. It took far too long to arrive considering the restaurant wasn’t busy. When the drink finally came, my tequila soda was missing its lime. I couldn’t flag down our server, so I had to go up to the bar myself to get one. Not a huge deal in isolation, but it definitely set the tone — and unfortunately, things only went downhill from there.
Throughout the evening, it felt like we were being served by an entire staff rotation — no exaggeration, at least ten different people approached our table at various points, none of whom seemed to know what we had ordered or who was responsible for our service. It took nearly 30 minutes just to place our order. We asked for our pizza first, followed by a pasta dish and lasagna. The pizza came out relatively quickly and was actually quite good — probably the one bright spot of the night.
But from that point on, we were basically forgotten. No one came to check on us. No drink refills. No updates. We were the only table left in our area, and I had to repeatedly get up from my seat to track someone down. After waiting nearly 50 minutes for the rest of our food, and being asked multiple times by different staff members what we had ordered, we were just about ready to walk out.
When our food finally arrived, it was underwhelming at best. My lasagna was lukewarm with a crusty top like it had been left under a heat lamp. My partner’s pasta was overcooked and mushy. We each took a few bites and stopped there. Even more frustrating, we sat for another 20 minutes with full plates virtually untouched, and still no one checked in. Our server, who seated another table right beside us, didn’t even glance our way.
Eventually, I had to get up again to ask who our actual server was and if they could come to the table. When she finally did, I asked for the bill and was met with what felt like irritation, as if I was the problem for expecting basic service. The bill came to $130 — with tip, $155 — and I had to ask for our food to be packed up. That took 10 more minutes, and it still came with no bags to carry it in. After another wait, I just walked up and grabbed one myself.
In a city like Toronto — Canada’s largest and one of North America’s best food scenes — there’s simply no excuse for this. With so many incredible restaurants to choose from, especially Italian ones (there are three or four on this very block), Ferro needs to do a lot better to compete. When you’re charging $155 for a night out, it’s not just about the food — it’s about the overall experience.
This review may come off as harsh, but the intent is honest: I took the time to share this feedback because I believe in giving places a chance to improve. That said, I also wasted even more of my time doing so.
Unexpectedly stumbled upon this place and it was truly amazing. The Magic Mushroom appetizer was delicious and the Lasagna special was amazing. The Lasagna had the perfect meat to cheese ratio and was a stunningly large portion. The only downside was that the place is a little small so there isn't a lot of room without having to adjust a few tables to get situated.
Exceptionally delicious food. Great flavours, and substantial portions. Friendly helpful service. Very good value. Pizza was the best I've had (Originale). The bread pudding desert is worth a visit itself. We are already planning a return visit.
I asked for a table in back due to our all having walkers and needed space to park them. Upon arrival, no accommodation had been made and we were nonchalantly waved to a space. I reiterated my request and a nonverbal grudging “waitress” took us to where we wanted to be. We were the only customers at that time. The table was small and we all felt cramped with the seats very uncomfortable. After about fifteen minutes, one of our party had to find a server as nobody had shown up. We ordered our food and over a timespan of ten minutes our order came to the table. First was a huge bowl of mussels, couple of minutes later, some pasta. Thirdly a Caesar salad with shrimp then after at least five minutes the gritty mussels arrive , about a third smaller than the first mussel order and without the promised bread. Had to go see the chef (open kitchen) and ask for the bread. Then we all sat for a long time me wanting the bill so I could get up from the uncomfortable chairs. Now, the food is generally ok here but the service and different times of food arrival makes me wonder if I'll ever return!

I was disappointed that despite having made a reservation, we were offered a table across from the washroom or a table at the front that was near the door and therefore cold.
I hate being nickelodeon and dimes. Ordered pasta and butter for granddaughter. They charged 50 cents for pasta on the bill. Just add to the whole price so you don't aggravate the customers. Service was slow. Waitress initially ignored us. Had to order with the bus boy after finally getting menu. Food good.
Had a lovely night with friends, it was a great choice. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was charming. The décor is beautiful and gives the place a cozy, intimate feel. It may be small, but it's truly outstanding. Can't wait to come back!
I went for my 60th birthday with my 81 year old mother and my husband .. the mussels are fabulous and I had the Hawaiian pizza with the honey drizzle. My mother had the lasagna and my partner had the ribs.. absolutely fantastic. It's my third time there and my favourite local restaurant by far. They make an excellent Aperol spritz too. Highly recommend. Atmosphere is great as well we sat at the back.
I took my three grandchildren to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious. We go there often and always enjoy ourselves
