We went for a casual dinner with not much expectations. The qualify of the food is superb. The waitress was very attentive. I especially like the yellow eel and rice hot pot. The chunks of eel taste exactly like those prepared by my late mom when I was a kid. I ordered the Iberico pork steak well done. It was very juicy and not at all chewy. We also ordered breaded oyster, mixed salad and grill octopus tentacles. All are very fresh. I don’t always write review whenever I dine out but this boutiques style restaurant is such a hidden gem in Warden / Eglinton area that deserves the 5 stars

Amazing service, a calming place to have dinner with family and love ones. We had the yellow eel claypot rice, kinki fish slow cooked with soya. Eclectic appetizers. All foods are made with creativity, and merging cultural taste profiles and cooking methods. Kudos to Chef and your team, the care and diligence in providing TO a unique dining experience.Parking: In front of restaurant, accessible

Fish and Loaf is a hidden gem tucked away on the Golden Mile. Its name is deceiving as it's not only serving fish and seafood, but they cook up some pretty amazing land meats. For my friends and I, we ordered:Spanish Iberico Pork Steak (~8oz) - Served with mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables.Australian Grass Fed Striploin Steak (12-14oz) - Served with mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables.Australian Grass Fed Ribeye Steak D.Aged (12-14oz) - Served with mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables and Demi-glace sauce. We totally enjoyed what we ordered. My Ribeye Steak was juicy and tender with a distinct rich flavour. The service was on point with attention to details. I swore the server made me feel like I was in a fine dining environment. The only thing that made me give this place a 4 star is because they were out of a few dishes on the menu. And it's not like we were dining late, nor was it full house. But definitely a must try.

I came here because I kept hearing rave reviews about it (friends kept mentioning that it's a hidden gem), and I kept seeing photos on social media. The food lived up to my expectation and the positive reviews I had been hearing. Upon entering, we were greeted right away and had our reservation confirmed. The place was a lot smaller than I imagined, with the first floor being the kitchen and the second floor being the dining area (there were only 4-5 tables, in which about half were for 2-4 people per table). Making a reservation ahead of time is highly recommended. The interior décor in the dining area was bright, modern, and cozy with a few pots of green plants hanging from the ceiling. The food was mostly pan-Asian fusion with upscale service and plating. We were presented with warm towels at the beginning (before the meal arrived). The food took a while to cook, even though we were only the only patrons there at that time. It just meant that everything was freshly cooked to order. It was fun to watch the chefs and kitchen staff prepare the dishes for you from the second floor, as you could see the kitchen from above. Review of the dishes: 1) Grilled Miso Wild Black Cod - This was one of my favourite dishes - loved the smooth, velvety fish and the delectable mix of roasted seasonal vegetables, tofu crumbles, edamame, and wild rice. The "sweet miso sauce" was delicate and was not overly sweet at all. It gave a nice umami flavour to the fish. 2) Grilled Seafood Platter - It consisted of a huge platter of grilled lobster tail (a LARGE one!), dry aged scallops, jumbo shrimps, abalone, and octopus tentacles. Everything was lightly seasoned and had a nice grill taste, and the seasonings weren't too overpowering (always a good sign for fresh seafood). The octopus tentacles had nice crispy bits near the ends. The abalone was very chewy, but I liked it as I could taste the actual abalone (not covered in thick oyster sauce like in most Chinese restaurants that serve abalone). The dish also came with a few fingerling potatoes. 3) Yellow Eel Clay Pot Rice - This was probably the best eel clay pot rice I've had. I'm not a big fan of the unagi sauce they always put on eel in most Japanese and Korean restaurants, so it was nice that the seasoning for the eel here was different and much better (not sweet and overly saucy at all). The rice mixed with the eel contained a lot of scallions, and it was very fragrant. Our server said if we don't finish the rice in the end, we could ask for it to be mixed with miso soup and turn it into porridge. I liked scraping the crispy bits of rice at the bottom of the hot clay pot, so we didn't opt for the miso soup porridge option. 4) Spring Mix Salad - Nice fresh leafy greens of spinach, red lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and a bit of sprouts. It had just the right amount of balsamic dressing - not too much. 5) Sautéed Vegetables - Good side of vegetables (asparagus, broccolini, and carrot) - they were still crisp and not overcooked, with just the right amount of seasoning. Service was excellent and attentive. The head chef (maybe the owner of the restaurant too?) kept coming upstairs to see how we were doing, asked how the food was, and gave us tips and info about the dishes.

I was shocked by the size of dining area. It’s hardly to place plates and turn around. It’s tiny. Overall the food looks good, tastes nice. However the service is pretty bad. Interesting thing is there is no welcome from the staff, only eye contact when we walk in. And service is also poor. There are too many places can provide both good quality food and service, so don’t waste time and money here if you have higher expectations.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Fish & Loaf. The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated. We had a table that looked over the open kitchen which is always great fun. We had the soup of the day and the branzino was equally delicious and attractively plated. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. We will be

Great food here where each dish is prepared with a lot of care and the staff provide explanations for their dishes. I would recommend reserving a table ahead of time if coming for dinner on the weekend as it does get busy.

Delayed review, but been to the resto for lunch and they were awesome :) good food (personal reco is the black cod) - but really, their sides of fries and sweet potato fries were out of the world. I did ask for a top up of the black cod since they offered.Great service as well - super attentive. The only drawback was that they didn't have too many seats and it's a lil far from my place. Highly recommend giving it a try!
