I went to the one on College Street for the first time on August 24/2024 after fan expo. This was the worst experience I ever had. First we were seated waiting for two friends to show up. I went there on August 24,2024 with some friends after fan expo. The server got us to the table while we waited for two more friends to show up (5 of us all together). Fran's Restaurant and Bar is a popular spot for breakfast and brunch, serving dishes like pancakes with real maple syrup, eggs, sausages, and bacon. This retro-style diner offers a wide menu selection at reasonable prices, with friendly and fast service. It evokes the ambiance of a well-preserved, classic dining experience, reflecting its 85-year history. The environment is clean and well-maintained, though attention to hygiene and deep cleaning of washroom fabrics and ventilation grills is necessary. The menu features traditional fare such as meatloaf and liver and onions, along with satisfying ribs that are cooked perfectly but may be preferred with less sauce. The mashed potatoes sometimes lack sufficient heat. Prices are competitive, making it a great value for groups of friends or family. While the restaurant isn't the fanciest, everything is cooked with great quality, and customers appreciate the friendly service. Although it no longer operates 24 hours, its 7am opening still allows for a hearty breakfast early in the day. Guests often enjoy good coffee, with some noting the small cups can be a bit inconvenient for refills, but overall, the experience remains positive. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.
