I appreciated the staff interactions. Great from the moment I arrived 10 minutes early - to the advice re: wine, information about courses and attention to detail.
This place is outstanding. Food, ambiance, service, location...everything is perfect. Unfortunately, they only are open for lunch. Maybe because not many people know about them.
My favourite lunch place. Comfortable and traditional without being stuffy. Great food and service
Delicious fish for me and and zucchini fritters for my husband were both enjoyed and followed by a shared cheese cake. A lovely lunch in a classic setting.
I like to take friends as my thank you when they've done me a favour. The Grill is always a hit.
Very good but I had the impression that staff were run off their feet. Had to flag down server several times.
The Gallery Grill gets very good reviews but I have found that the food never quite lives up to the reputation. I had the Sea Bass and my partner had grilled calamari. Both were fine but neither were memorable or particularly interesting. Pretty standard renditions of these dishes. Nice setting although perhaps they could add some sound absorbing materials to reduce the noise level. Very good and attentive service. Mushroom dish to start was interesting and reasonably priced.
The gallery grill goes way beyond being a University canteen. The food is always excellent and they have a great selection of delicious non alcoholic drinks which together make for a very good meal. That you can enjoy this sort of meal wrapped in stone, on noble, academic grounds, makes for a cool toronto experience.

Beet salad was a tasteless disappointment. Better luck with cauliflower soup and zucchini cake. Too much focus on making it pretty and politically correct skimpy, not enough focus on taste. Lovely spot but costs way too much for what you get.
Pretentious. Overpriced. Abrasive staff.

We came here to test some food for our wedding venue and we were very pleased with the food. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned ! The service was also on point and quite attentive. Great food and service !
The beef was so thin, totally salted, and overcooked. I am glad the waiter took it back but my salt intake was surely over 6 grams for the day because I had two slices of the beef. The food quality is so poor, and the menu has not been changed for almost a year.
Beautiful authentic university of Toronto setting for a special lunch experience. Service is excellent, as is the food and the drink options- delicious non-alcoholic mixes for those returning to work in the afternoon! Overall, a delicious lunch in a lovely setting.
Impeccable in every way. I was a student and member of various Hart House committees when the Gallery Grill first opened. I delighted in their crème brûlée with maple syrup from Hart House Farm back then — genius! — and savoured every single slowly savoured spoonful yesterday — has it really been 30 years since the first? Lots to celebrate!
This was my favourite place to take people from out of town and celebrate special occasions. It was unique, beautiful, quiet, small, and had impeccable food, drinks and service. The place remains the same in lovely Hart House, but unfortunately the food was a horrible disappointment. Despite promises, the inspired menu, fresh ingredients and original dishes of previous chef Suzanne Baby are no more. The amazing wines and sherry menu also gone. It is now tasteless pseudo Italian food you can find anywhere in chain restaurants. Even the beautiful printed menus have been replaced by badly designed ones. What a pity.
