Excellent place, very friendly service from Johann and David, delicious food, invaluable cost-benefit ratio. The building itself has a very traditional, quiet feel. Totally recommended. The only thing that could be improved is the service hours.

The people who run this restaurant take great pride in their work and will do what they can to make things right. At this visit, I received attentive care at the right pace. The courses arrived with enough time to enjoy them, and drinks were refreshed as needed. The meals were hot, fresh, and flavoured appropriately. They even gave us extra plates and cutlery for shared dishes, without us asking.
Charming room and excellent service. The corn and apple soup was delicious as were the heirloom and gem lettuce/radicchio salads. I wasn't fond of the apple crisp since it was overly sweet and the crisp was underneath so soft. The creme brûlée was amazing.
Unfortunately, I will not go back to The Grill. The food was not appealing, and the cost quite high. A birthday lunch for 2, the waitress began by asking if we'd like some bread with our meal. I thought it was free... we were charged. I ordered the soup and there was barely a cup in my bowl but I was charged $12. My mushroom salad had poached mushrooms... terrible. Would've been better sauted. My guest had a salad overloaded with dressing. She couldn't eat it all. I had ticked off that it was a birthday, but no mention of it by our server.
It was a special occasion for our family. And the staff at Gallery Grill went up and beyond to ensure it was a success afternoon for us. Dominica and Riya took care of us with their thoughtful and cheerful attention!
This is a great place for lunch. Hart House is an impressive building on the U of T downtown (St George campus) with beautiful landscaping including the recently completed Ziibling project celebrating Indigenous heritage. The food at Gallery Grill is consistently delicious and interesting,
The food and atmosphere were superb as always. However the wait staff were a bit overwhelmed and needed reminding, probably due to the Mother's Day crowd. All in all, however it was worth it and we will definitely return.
We enjoyed our lunch in the dining hall. I liked the Salmon cooked to perfection, although I ate leaner ones. The mashed potatoes with celeriac as the side was delicious. The steak was not very soft and the topping was a bit spicy. Cheese cake was classical style, not the fluffy, soft kind. Coffees, salad were excellent. I would go again for a special occasion. The venue is very beautiful and stylish in the middle of the historic Hart House.

My friend and i both had a wonderful lunch here yesterday. The food was absolutely delicious. I had poached salmon and the mushroom soup to start. First rate. I would describe the ambience as old world elegance. Highly recommended.
Impeccable eating experience, as always. Although we missed the ambience of the big dining room, the lounge was a great choice re noise level (and the lounge itself is rawther lovely
The service and food were excellent as always. BUT it would help if you advised people there is a large and potentially noisy group booked. Had I known, I would have booked another day Thanks
It pains me to write this review as I wish to be supportive of the Gallery Grill, which has in the past been excellent, but aside from the decent drinks, service, and ambience, the food was truly subpar. My companion and I will not be returning as this has been the second time in a row we have been underwhelmed. Whatever the GG was doing in the past to make the menu more vibrant and fresh, they should implement again.
