Honestly best sesame balls I've ever had in my life. Imagine a crispy outer sesame crust and the softest mochi-like inside with a dollop of red bean filling. For only $1 and the size of them, I'll keep coming back. Their savoury meat buns are also pretty good and so affordable for only $1.60. It is cash only so keep it in mind. Also gotta keep an eye out for the whimsy decor while you're here.

NEW BAKERY - aka 龍鳳閣餅家. It's located on Gerrard Street East and is open for business again with Hot Table Food, Baked Goods, Buns, Cookies, Cakes, Birthday Cakes, and Frozen Dim Sum. Affordable. Cheap eats. Pre-2018 it used to be called Phoenix Bakery. It was temporarily closed for renovations and has reinvented itself after the pandemic. The New Bakery seems to have adapted to the new times. I kind of like the new digs and new look of this bakery. Their hot food table menu and frozen dim sum adds a nice touch that really complements the bakery well. They have sweet buns, savoury buns, fluffy cakes that are some of the softest cakes you will ever eat. I picked up a dozen bakery goodies including some goodies, steamed buns (vegetarian and non-vegetarian), cookies and sponge cakes, a constant supply that has graced our family's kitchen table over the years. Compared to the older layout, you will notice that the physical space has been converted to half the size it once was. The old seating area is gone, along with the delightful neighbourhood regulars. First Galaxy Donuts, then Phoenix Bakery. The historical fixtures of this ever evolving neighbourhood have also vanished along with the bakery's mesmerizing fish tank.

The baked goods here were okay, but I would have liked a lot more filling in the buns.I went basic for the hot meal, and despite recommendations for the freshest pasta, none of it was all that hot.It was inexpensive and the staff was friendly, so I would ideally give it a 3.5.
