First time trying grey gardens and loved it! Servers are very knowledgeable, ambience is great and the food was excellent. I recommend!
Just excellent. Excellent. The food, the wine, the service. All top notch without any stuffiness.
What a fantastic restaurant. Atmosphere and service were both on point. Dishes & cutlery changed before every new dish, water always filled, and all the items were described in wonderful detail. They even gave us an extra shrimp for the shrimp cocktail! For the stripped bass dish, they also gave us 2 separate portions of fish, which I noticed wasn’t how they served the dish to other patrons. I’m not sure if this was because they noticed we were sharing all the dishes, but it’s a really nice touch that’s easy to miss if that was the case. This is how you make an extraordinary experience. Grey Gardens does it almost on the level of Alo.
The menu is small but all the dishes are very creative and offer good variety. It’s underrated but the bread here is delicious. The red tail grain they use to make their bread is really delicious and the bread comes out so soft in the center but crispy and chewy on the outside.
Another highlight was the maitake dish. The barely they use at the bottom resembles a chewier risotto and the mushroom itself comes out so smokey. Not sure if this was from the cooking or from the addition of the black garlic in the sauce.
Striped bass was also cooked exceptionally well. I’ve never had fish skin that wasn’t battered and fried come out so crispy like I had here before. I just wished there was more of it. The hand torn lamb noodle dish was also very flavourful and the lamb essentially fell apart within the dish.

Tartar was amazing... Almost memorable Everything was great one item came out cold... Atmosphere is casual laid back.. limited selection on whiskey... Otherwise great value.
Incredible dining experience.
When you visit a restaurant with a seasonal menu - you visit for the chefs vision and for a chance at tasting something unique.
The vibe of the restaurant was great - most of the food was good, but there was a few standouts.
The slow braised leeks were incredible - it had a rich umami mushroom sauce that is hard to describe. The pasta surprised us as well - personally I enjoy this take over restaurants who are known for their rose style sauce like Carbone.
The standout for me was the crab apple dessert - if you’re reading this in the fall of 2025 - go try it as the chef said it’s coming off the menu by December. The combo of the rich caramel flavour from the for grais mousse with the tart crab apple ice-cream made for both the best and the most unique dessert I’ve ever tried. I’m legitimately heartbroken this will be taken off the menu.
Wine list and drinks were incredible and our server was very nice - highly recommend sitting at the chefs counter

Went by myself and ate way more than I should’ve so get ready for a long review.
I started with four oysters and stopped against my will otherwise I could have eaten a dozen. They were incredibly fresh and tasty, and the horseradish was masterful.
For the crudo I went with the yellowfin tuna. The black garlic was really tasty but the star of the dish was the green mustard leaves kimchi. It made the whole dish edgy with the tiniest of the kicks, as mustard kicks go.
My vegetable choice was half a portion of the leek with mataki bacon and fermented daikon. I’m glad I ordered half because it was definitely more filling than it looks. It’s really well balanced and overall it was probably my favourite bite of the whole evening.
For noodles once again I went half portion, this time with the ravioli. Sweet corn tasted amazing and the chanterelles felt fresh and really flavourful. The smoked ricotta brings a subtle taste to the dish that I really liked.
I got a side of house-made bread and cultured butter to go along with the pasta. Bread was heated and served at the perfect temperature. It was crispy on the edges with a soft, warm, comforting middle. The butter was a bit too salty in my opinion.
Main dish was a whole sea bream, sitting on top of green peas and scallions in a beurre blanc sauce with cumin oil. The fish was grilled in an open fire right in front of me. It was soft and tasty, the vegetables carried a charred flavour that elevated their taste and the cumin oil added depth to the beurre blanc sauce. Overall it was a well executed dish but nothing that impressed me or made my jaw drop. The size of this portion is not to be underestimated, because the sauce is heavy, and along with the veggies, makes the whole thing very filling.
Lastly, I had the crab apple sorbet with rice puff crumbs sitting on a foie grais pudding. It is not overly sweet, which is good but unfortunately this dessert didn’t really strike a note with me. The crab apple sorbet was really light and almost flavourless, and the tanginess of the foie gras pudding overpowered everything. I appreciate the chef’s boldness to try this dessert but it’s not the taste one expects in a dessert. This one is a miss in my opinion.
The wine by-the-glass list was awesome and is probably one of the best in the whole city. I had a fantastic chenin blanc that paired perfectly with what I ate.
Service was impeccable and Rachel was really friendly and helpful.
Ambiance is cool, cozy and welcoming. Doesn’t feel too chic, pretentious or bougy, which I really liked.
As Michelin BIB goes, this restaurant is definitely outside of the BIB definition because one will easily spend over $100. I understand the restaurant has no control over being named a BIB but just letting others know that’s a 3$ place.
Overall I definitely recommend this place and will definitely go back with friends & family.

Amazing and friendly staff. The place is a little on the smaller side but definitely quite quaint. Food was delicious. I would definitely go back.
Atmosphere and service were excellent! Food however was quite mediocre for the price.

A lovely space and great atmosphere. Although the meal was good, it was not outstanding but I would recommend for ambiance and for a solid meal.

Always a highlight of our eating experiences. It never fails to tick every box of food and passion
Always a. outstanding experience at Grey Gardens The food leaves no detail untouched. Especially of note last night were the ravioli and sea bream. Both at a different level! We always sit at the bar/chefs table. The interaction with the Chef and his supporting cast., make the experience so memorable. Service is always efficient The serving staff is soooo helpful! Grey Gardens is one of our favourites. Truly, a Toronto Gem!
Had a superb meal, sitting at the kitchen counter. We had so much fun watching the team work with precision. A must go!
After our meal my wife asked me what was your favourite bite? I couldn't pick one because frankly - every bite was terrific. The service was outstanding. Anna is awesome and so knowledgable.
