Best karage ever!
Fantastic Japanese style street food at an affordable price.
Their chicken karaage is amazing!
These Street side Market/ food court area has a lot of different cuisines from various countries, but this Authentic Japanese restaurant stands out with their authenticity on every dish and, or appetizer. It’s like having a portal to a kitchen in Japan where you place your order and enjoy it on the seating space right in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Tasty chicken karage. A little bit of a wait but nothing scandalous.

Legit one of the most delicious karaage I've had the pleasure of tasting. I got the original and it was ?. 3 pieces was a big snack, rice would make it enough for a lunch. Biggest pieces of karaage I've ever seen too.

Their karage is a signature dish; I have never tried any this good; the batter is unique, and you might forget other's karage once you try it from this place. The curry is okay, not bad. The portion is decent at such a price.

The rice balls at the Japanese comfort food stall are so gooooood. I got the tuna and green onion one and I loved it!
The lady running the stall was very friendly and the service was fast!

This was my first time trying Japanese street food and I absolutely loved it.
Gushi is located on Market 707 on Dundas West (they have another location on Gerrard Street, with different hours of operation) and they have a few picnic tables available in front of the market for you to sit down and enjoy your meal.
They have great customer service; very friendly and helpful staff; we were asking many questions about menu and he patiently helped us pick the right options.
We ordered “Hot Maple Chicken Skewer” and “Takoyaki” for appetizer, “Original Chicken Karaage Bento”, “Shrimp Fry Curry Rice” and “Nanban Beef Katsu Rice Bowl” for main, and “Mochi Trio” and “3 Color Dango Mochi” for dessert.
Everything was presented very nicely and tasted amazing. My favorites were Takoyaki and Original Chicken Karaage Bento.
In my opinion, Bento is a must-try here.

Admittedly very pricy for street food, the everything curry rings up to about $16 after tax. The quality of the deep fry is SO GOOD that it almost makes me want to cry ? even on an off hr! Went for early dinner.

Located on an open street among other street vendors, this one serves Japanese faire.
Snack Basket $14
2 pieces of Karaage Chicken
3 pieces of Takoyaki
1 potato Croquette
+ Spicy mayo dip
It's ok. Probably the chicken was the best, but it's overall just ok.
A few tables along the street. If it is raining, there are tables you can use in the community center.

Honestly 20 bucks for 10 takoyaki is pretty expensive. If you are charging that much you would at least expect that it's authentic, but it's far from it. Mayo is probably the only legit thing as I'm sure they use Kewpie but the sauce was pretty much just soy sauce, bonito flakes do add aesthetics and are essential to completing the product but the takoyaki itself was deep fried. Takoyaki is usually made fresh on the spot with a takoyaki griddle and all they had was a deep fryer, so honestly don't bother with this place, it actually ends up being better and cheaper buying at an izakaya rather than this spot. I mean. Look at my pics, would you pay 20 dollars for that?
