Great food and service no complaints with those! Just a bit pricey, expect ~$30-40 per person after tax + tip.

As a guy I was around 80% full. As many reviews say I can’t give 5 stars because it was a bit too pricey for what you get. 5 stars if this was in the $20-30 range per meal.

Went here for the first time today. It reminded me so much of Japan in the flavours provided.
I can't wait to eat here again! Especially the Yuzu beer and the onsen egg!

Sad I didn't love it. I was really looking forward to eating here, but the meat was just so tough and hard to chew. Not one piece was tender. For the price it really was unacceptable. Staff were really friendly though, and the yuzu beer was refreshing.

Pretty average but expensive prices. I would try it still, but not come back.

Wanted to try out the beef katsu in house. Fast service, great options for the half and half and free refills on cabbage salad! Their miso dipping sauce was very rich and tasty - a perfect balance for the crusted steak. They also have limited options for wagyu but they can be sold out.

The bar seats are way too close together — you constantly have to be careful not to bump into the strangers next to you. It’s super awkward. Food is average.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Kyoto Gyukatsu!
From the moment I walked in, everything exceeded my expectations — the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff were incredibly polite and attentive, and the food was simply exceptional. The gyukatsu was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. You can truly taste the quality in every bite.

The prices were more than fair considering the high quality of the ingredients and service. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right — but Kyoto Gyukatsu absolutely does.

Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area. I’ll definitely be coming back!

i was scared that this place was going to be trendy and overhyped coming from an instagram page. while it’s not like gyukatsu motomura where you grill your meet. the food is absolutely delicious! the onsen egg and the cuts of meat were perfect!

I ate here three different times, so the prices range wildly from the katsu sandwiches at around $10 per plate to the $120 A5 Wagyu set, which they only do 10 sets per week. I think this is a really good Japanese restaurant, with juicy meats, rice, and lettuce galore. The fact I went here three times in three weeks should tell you about how good this place is.

Very good food and service. Its very affordable for japanese cuisine. A friend recommended this place to us and we'll be back for sure! ありがと!

Gyukatsu was great! It reminded us of the one we had in japan from the famous chain. The Katsu is nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We go the Sirloin and ribeye cuts. The Sirloin had a nice beef flavour but a bit tough, meanwhile the ribeye was amazing. It was a bit more expensive but it was very tender and fatty, great experience!

Great place for the price in the downtown area. The side dishes that come with the meal make it so filling

Had a really good time here. Food was great and fresh. Service is 5/5 what you expect at a authentic Japanese restaurant. Highly recommended. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, soft inside and outside was crispy with a thin layer of panko. The rice was seasoned well with a light sweet sauce. The cabbage salad and pour your own amount of tart and sweet ponzu perfectly balanced out the bites of heaviness of the gyukatsu.
