What an awesome experience at the new Woodstock location - the greeter and servers were efficient, friendly and made you feel welcome!! The Halibut was delicious, light batter, fries and coleslaw very tasty. Well done team!!👍
Halibut House Fish & Chips is a chain with multiple locations across Toronto. This Danforth location is a go-to spot for a lot of people, my family and I included!
They get very busy and a line can form, so make sure to order ahead of time, if possible! The fish and chips here are delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are very fair.
We ordered takeout and all got the Halibut Fish & Chips, which was perfect crunchy on the outside and soft and succulent on the inside. Each order comes with a whole box of chips, their coleslaw, and lots of vinegar and tartar sauce (we requested extra).
The fish and chips were freshly fried and piping hot! We had a fair amount of leftovers from each portion. Definitely recommend this location if you’re looking for some proper filling fish & chips!

Jeny was our waitress, her smiley face, & polite & speedy service. Jeny was very attentive. We ordered the Sunday Halibut special, 1 massive piece of Halibut, fries, & coleslaw. Mmmmm, it was amazing. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. The place looks great. It is a great place to eat with good prices.
The food was very fresh and tasty. Fast and friendly service. Nice and relaxing atmosphere.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and years. Tonight will be my last time. Unfortunately, my last 3 visits the food has been very disappointing. Cod fish very thin and overcooked and the fries were hard and deep brown in colour - either pre-cooked or overcooked. The service is good (other than always asking if I want to add gravy to my order) but the food is poor quality and the price high.
two 13$ meals of 1extra piece of fish turned into A 72 dollar meal.Very unimpressed , tried to call in unable to get a hold of manager till apparently , tomorrow morning will not be back in .. been going there for like ten years.. could not believe this happened

This was a tough experience. Came and ordered calamari- and despite the persistence of the cook— I stand to believe that what I recieved was some sort of makeshift calamari or that it was a poor quality of squid. I reference that calamari and the idea of frying squid is accessible EVERYWHERE, all of whom produce a product with a certain taste and texture. I’m convinced that what this restaurant serves is some muddled seafood mixture more akin to shrimp or cuttle fish. Should they feel wronged— why not challenge their calamari against the plethora of restaurants serving it on the danforth. All in all a very disappointing experience — high prices, low service value, and poor food quality.
EDIT: beyond how disgusting their squid meat dish was the accompanying sauce is HORRIBLE (lemon, yogurt, maybe mayo, mint?)— it really highlighted how incredible terrible the sham calamari was.

Very surprised that my halibut looked like pre-frozen Captain Highliner. I’m not sure the fries are even fresh cut anymore. $25 is a lot for something that appears to be pre-battered pre-frozen.
Very friendly. The food felt a bit low grade. Like hastily thawed fries. But definitely edible. I will return and try more items and adjust my review from there.
