BUGS IN MY RAMEN!

I finally made it over to this restaurant to try their Ramen. I ordered the Shio Ramen. Halfway through my meal, I noticed something floating… Upon closer inspection realized it was a bug with six legs and wings. And there wasn’t just one there was hundreds. I immediately brought my bowl up to the owner and told her it was full of bugs. Her response “oh really” I said yes, really. I took out one ramen spoonful and poured it on a white napkin in front of her, which resulted in 12 bugs. I then showed her up close all six legs and wings. She still denied it and kept saying “oh really” She then tried to tell me it was black garlic. I told her it had wings and legs, and there was hundreds of them… Her response again… oh really… No Apology, no acknowledgement… nothing. This is the first incident I have ever had with bugs in a restaurant. It’s safe to say that I will be ruined for eating out for a very long time.

This is the best ramen in town!!!! I always go with the black tonkotsu. It’s perfect. The food usually arrives fast and the service is always great!

Great food and service. We especially love the authentic Japanese vibe. Sapporo Miso Ramen is our favorite.

Nice neighborhood ramen shop. Friendly service, great tasting ramen and nice texture with the noodles. Looking forward to returning to try other styles.

This is exactly the kind of ramen place you hope to stumble into on a chilly evening.
We went full comfort-mode and ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the black garlic miso ramen, and both absolutely delivered. The tonkotsu was rich, cozy, and deeply satisfying without tipping into “I regret my life choices” heavy — smooth, porky, and soul-warming. The black garlic miso had that bold, savoury depth with just the right funky edge that makes you keep going back for one more sip of broth.
Noodles had great bite, toppings were generous, and the whole vibe felt warm and unfussy — the kind of place where the ramen does the talking and you’re perfectly happy to listen.
No hype, no theatrics. Just solid, comforting ramen that understands the assignment. Would happily slurp again

I recently went cause I just moved to the area and was not disappointed by the service or the food!!! The waitress also handled a rude man very well. Edit: I just noticed the man posted a one star review for this restaurant. Adam: we witnessed you being very rude to a young couple dining with their baby for changing its diaper. We heard them apologizing and informing you that there was no where else to change the baby and it’s 0 degrees outside. Later on you started insulting the couple again for changing their babies clothing! The whole restaurant heard your verbal attacks. The poor couple! You were the belligerent and berating one, not them. I’m glad you left. Also your sore throat was karma and has nothing to do with the food. DO BETTER!

This is a spot located in the east end of Toronto. Not an easy spot to get to by public transit for me since I am in the west end of Toronto. When you say ramen, this spot does have a great number of choices.

I chose the Nagasaki champon since it is one of my all time favourites. Typically, champon has loads of vegetables and seafood on top. Unfortunately, Hokubu version did not. The original champon from Nagasaki was created by a Chinese chef that opened.a shop in Nagasaki and wanted to serve Chinese noodles on the cheap to Chinese students from a nearby university. So the original had lots of vegetables on top like a mountain which were stir fried with seafood separately.

The Hokubu champon as you can see in the photo has vegetables but very little and did come with mussels and shrimp. More like a standard ramen that comes with vegetable.

Since this ramen was higher in price compared to most of the others offered, I was disappointed. First impressions is very important to me. Mind you though, the broth was creamy and flavourful. Not as thick as I would have liked it too.

Overall, I did enjoy the ramen but felt short changed with the vegetables. I will have to come back and give this spot another try though since there are others that look good on their website.

I do appreciate the fact that they have condiments on the table which I certainly took advantage of.

This restaurant is a staple in the neighbourhood . The only good thing about winter is it justifies more Hokubu in my life. 💕

I come here regularly because the food is great. However during my last visit a couple changed their baby’s dirty diaper at the table right next to me. After smelling the unpleasant odour, we could not finish our meals. The couple was belligerent and berated me for communicating my discomfort. The owner gave us our meal for free but indicated that they let the couple change the baby beside us. The next day I woke up with a sore throat. Although the food is good I cannot return to this location and would advise against eating here

Great, cozy spot for ramen! The staff were extremely kind with our little family, including our baby.

There was a very condescending and incompassionate patron who tried to give us a hard time about our baby. However, the staff were very apologetic even though it wasn’t their fault and were very accommodating and caring. We also appreciated the other patrons’ understanding. We will continue to visit :)

🍜Fantastic lunch today. 4 people ate a few different types of Ramen. The photo is a black garlic Miso Ramen, with extra egg and mushroom added. We had some edamame on the side, plus a large pot of house sake. Everyone was very happy. Food was excellent. Service was first rate and friendly. Compliments to the Chef. Highly recommended.🌟

I came in violently hungover and was immediately sat and had my order taken wich was great! I ordered the spicy bull ramen or something like that and it was the best ramen I ever had so so so good, the atmosphere of the place was outstanding, very relaxing and nice chill music playing to eat ramen too, I now feel not hungover at all and this is my new ramen spot!
