It was a very disappointing evening. I ordered the Steak Neptune medium. The meat quality was less than what I get for filets at Whole Foods. The steak was overcooked. We sat next to a table of 8 businessmen who were loud, extremely vulgar and quite intoxicated. No one saw fit to say anything to them.

I was pleased to visit Hy's with 5 members of my family to celebrate my sister's birthday. From the moment we entered the door, service was excellent and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was rich, accentuated with live music and a great view inside and outside the space. 4 of our party hadn't had the pleasure before, so we made sure they were able to enjoy the classic cheese toast, along with a variety of other appetizers (the Caesar salad prepared tableside was certainly a hit, as were the escargot and lobster bisque. From the Beef Wellington that my mother savored, to the steak au poivre that several of us devoured, the entrees were a feast. My wife's steak Diane's tableside preparation was a hit (noticing a bit of a theme yet? That will be continuing), and the various desserts we shared were all worth saving room for. Whether the drinks were Shirley Temples for those who can't imbibe, or the 70th anniversary Old Fashioned, every sip and bite was spectacular. Our servers were all attentive, swift, and seemed to materialize the moment anything was needed or desired. I can't speak highly enough of how much their efforts elevated the experience, and it's one I hope we can enjoy again when the opportunity arises.

Excellent service from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Caesar salad made at the table, bacon wrapped filet mignon, prawns and rack of lamb all prepared to perfection. One of my favourite places to eat in downtown Toronto. Special dessert treat for my wife for her birthday topped off a perfect dinner.

Have dined at Hy's multiple times. Great location overall good to very good food. One the most recent dinners we sat in a section with 4 tables serviced by the same server. Our server was excellent and very professional. However Hy's has a major service issue and at this most recent dining event it was a real disappointment. 3 of the other tables ordered the table side prepared Caesar salad. Instead of using other help to do this, the server had to take a lot of time preparing and making these salads by themself. The other tables lacked ANY service and attention for long periods of time while the server was busy preparing the salad. It is a terrible waste of time for the server to be actually preparing and making food when their main job is supposed to be service, especially at the cost of eating at Hy's. We did try this salad once prior, and the irony is it is very mediocre at best. The only other real shock in a restaurant of this level is there is no bread service. We did ask for bread at a prior meal and were actually charged for what appeared to be very basic and cheap convenience store bread. We did dine at Harbour 60 the night prior. No charge for bread, an even higher quality filet, and best of all very attentive service in a stunning building

Way overpriced for mediocre steak. The beefsteak tomatoes were over $20 and they were unflavourguk and boring. The staff tried hard but the poor food left a sour taste in my mouth.
