The food and service was outstanding! We were celebrating my son's 18th bday and he had the best steak of his life! It was a bit pricey ($1,000 for 4 ppl), but very delicious!

The Beef was OK, but I expected a better steak. Ceasar Salad was great. Wine selection Top.

I recently visited Hy’s and I typically don't leave reviews but i feel compelled to express my extreme disappointment, not about the food or service inside, but about the treatment of their valet attendants.

It was bitterly cold outside, and I was shocked to see that their valet staff are left standing out in freezing temperatures with no visible protection from the elements. No heaters, no enclosed shelter, nothing.

Providing even a minimal level of comfort, like outdoor heaters or a proper shelter, is the least you could do.

I sincerely hope this feedback prompts some serious reconsideration of how you treat your staff, especially during extreme weather conditions.

I can't in good conscience recommend Hys to others.

I booked this restaurant for our anniversary and was excited to try it out. Overall, we enjoyed most of the food, but a few aspects left us disappointed.

The highlight of the meal was the food itself, which was really good. However, there were a couple of issues. The asparagus served with the Wellington was burnt to ash on the bottom. When we pointed it out to our server, Shannon, she simply took it away without any apology or offer to replace it. That felt dismissive and not up to par for the restaurant's standards.

We also ordered mashed potatoes and fries as sides for our steak, thinking they were included (perhaps we misread the menu). The fries were okay—neither great nor bad—but the mashed potatoes were incredibly basic: just smashed potatoes with a bit of salt. They lacked creaminess or any real flavor, and we barely ate them. To top it off, we discovered at the end of the meal that each side was $17. While that might have been on us for not reading the menu carefully, it added to the disappointment.

There were also small service issues. I requested ice in my water at the start of the meal, but it was completely forgotten.

Despite these drawbacks, we did enjoy most of the food, and the ambiance was pleasant. However, service and attention to detail could definitely be improved. Overall, I’d rate the experience a 7.5/10.

My partner and I chose Hy’s for a special occasion and they delivered in spades. From the greeting at the door, to our server and the atmosphere in the lounge - it made for a memorable experience. We enjoyed a table side Caesar salad and shared a rib steak that was perfectly cooked.

Came here for NYE to celebrate with my fiancé. The food was great and having a live band that was actually really good made this a great overall experience. The decor matched the mood and was able to sit in the lounge for a bit of a more cozy relaxed setting. The sides were great (mushroom and brown sugar carrots) and the steak was cooked really well. Everyone talks about the beef Wellington so the finance tried it and it did not disappoint. She is not a huge steak fan but this dish really hit the spot.

Celebrated my wife's birthday here. Everything was perfect. Impeccable service, great food and a quite pleasant ambience. Cocktails were lovely and they have a very good wine list. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

The server looked like she was having a bad day. And she sure was. She kept saying things under her breath.
-The salad came with no dressing and after mentioning it to server, her response was “oh it’s definitely there” when you can clearly see it’s dry, and not shiny like when dressing is applied. (By the way this my third time to Hys, but this was worst experience thus far) I asked for medium steak and I got a medium well. Very light pink in the middle. This might be a little Karen but I have to mention this. As a very high class establishment I don’t expect the sever to drop wine on the table. Especially from an expensive bottle we ordered. That was unprofessional. But like I said in the beginning. Server energy was just off putting. never going back for any future celebrations.

I have been going to Hys for close to 40 years in various locations throughout Toronto. Until now, I was always a loyal fan. My most recent visit was to the new location on Bay St. It certainly has character, but that was the only redeeming quality. The food has taken a back seat to the hype and price. Two people had two cocktails and 2 glasses of wine each, one appetizer shared, and one main course shared. Price over 300 $. Ceaser salad was a shadow of its former self. No bacon with virtually no seasoning. Strip Loin was tough overdone and tasteless. This, of course, included nothing additional, not even bread. In contrast I just went to the famous Gibbys Steakhouse in Old Montreal where I had the exact same meal for 40% less and the food was impeccable and included bread, pickles, sorbet, baked potato, vegetables, wedge salad and a wonderful atmosphere. Astalavista Hys!!
