Had the flan mochi donut, at the recommendation of the girl working the front. Look, Flan is in our cultural DNA, I’ve tasted plenty and so we know when it’s “off”, and man was this very off. Maybe it’s because it was sitting out from yesterday, maybe it was just a bad apple, but my partner started feeling sick within minutes of finishing it. And alright let’s pretend that we weren’t served day-old / unsafely kept Flan donuts, at a baseline it’s not even good. They love touting themselves being Canada’s first mochi donuts, but as the 21st Century philosopher Aubrey Graham said, “It’s not about who did it first, it’s about who did it best,” and this was dry, stale, not chewy and a generally not great time. If you want to try incredible Mochi, check out Iammochi @ Finch x Midland who blows them out of the water, but I guess maybe Isabella’s passes as a delectable treat for the clientele in the neighbourhood who are used to paying $10 for a hot dog.

Isabella's Mochi Donut Boutique - have you ever had mochi? have you ever had anything made with rice flour? Well, then you've got a general sense of the texture for these interesting morsels. Yet, I'll be honest, it's not exactly the same as a standard mochi which is known for its super soft goo feel. Nope, these Isabella's mochi donuts have a crisp firmer exterior. The interior gives off a slightly firmer mochi chew which I really like and the best part is all the different flavours. I particularly appreciate that these donuts, though well decorated, aren't too sweet. I personally am not a big fan of the regular doughnut - I find them too sweet and all I can taste is the sugar.

I've had Isabella's donuts before but this is the first time I've ever received a box of Isabella's donuts as a gift and I have to say it was such a wonderful surprise! It came in a sleek black company bag, well packaged in its signature black box, and when you open it up and see all those little works of art - sublime!

Here are the donuts featured in the images:

- matcha
- honey pistachio
- double double
- cherry pie
- oolong milk tea mochi
- maple glaze

Each one had a nice light hint of the identified flavour. I liked that it wasn't overpowering and again, not too sweet, so I could actually appreciate what I was eating. They went well with our coffees and teas, that's for sure.

Now, this must be noted: these were the flavours that were available when I received the box but their flavours are always changing. Visit their store or website to see more current offerings. Their standards are always a good staple though - original, cinnamon sugar, and maple glaze.

One last thing - some might consider these donuts to be on the pricier end so it may not be an everyday item to go with my coffee. However, as a gift for someone or even just a treat for yourself, these Isabella's mochi donuts would definitely be a nice touch. I've been to a few of their stores as well and staff are always pleasant and helpful.

So, if you're in the mood to try something new, consider having an Isabella's Mochi donut!

My favourite donuts ever. They’re super light and delicious. The only donuts that I can eat without feeling bad after. A bit pricey but totally worth it. I also love that they bring new flavours once in a while.

Matcha No 7 - Decent matcha flavour with a dusting of matcha powder on top, but is heavier feeling and sweeter.

Red Bean Black Sesame Shortbread - Red bean glaze is moderately sweet but red bean flavour is subtle. The shortbread is crumbly and relatively moist, with a distinct black sesame taste.

I love it but the hours are terrible

I've tried many flavs fr Isabella's and hv been disappointed almost every time, the glaze they use is not strong enough to convey the advertised flavours. Unfortunately it's a business that relies on food colouring and the gimmick of being the only easily accessible mochi shop (there are no mochi donuts elsewhere downtown). You will hv to go farther if u want good, non-greasy, flavourful mochi donuts

I’ve tried this shop twice so far and was quite disappointed both times.
Got the ube and the pineapple cream and they were both very oily and had the greasy taste. The texture was great but overall it was too sweet. The ube didn’t taste of ube as well just super sweet glaze.

Can you consider opening a location at the Vaughan area. Your donuts are amazing and the only place in Vaughan is marry me mochi.
